The BASF products for the leather industry are listed in this
brochure in brief for ready reference to the field of
application, properties and use. For more detailed information
we refer to the specific Technical Information leaflets and to
the relevant pattern cards on the various ranges of dyes and
pigment dispersions.

All technical question regarding the application of our
products can be dealt with at our laboratories and
experimental tannery. Our technical staff will be available to
advice you personally and assist you in your introductory
work and trials at your plant.

Soaking Auxiliaries :-

Eusapon W : Low foaming surfactant based on organic substances.
Mainly used to speed up the soaking of salted and dried
skins.

Eusapon FB-WT : Low cost wetting agent for all types of leather. It is
particularly suitable for accelerating the wetting back
process along with removing the dirt during soaking,
deliming & bating.

Basozym S 20 : Bacterial enzyme preparation. It promotes intensive and
uniform soaking of fresh, salted and dried raw stock.


Unhairing Auxiliaries :-

Mollescal LS : Liming auxiliary based on organic compound with
reducing effect for conventional hair-destroying and hair-
saving liming process. Produces clean pelts , free of
wrinkles.

Mollescal SF : Liming auxiliary based on organic compound with
reducing effect. Causes the skin to swell and open up.
Gives clean pelts & leather are characterized by their tight
grain and full flanks.

Basozym L 10 : Bacterial enzyme preparation containing protease. Can
be applied for hair saving and hair pulping process.
Loosens hair roots, helps to open up the skin and make
hair & melanin easier to remove


Alkali Bating :-

Lezyme A : Highly active enzymatic bating agent suited for obtaining
clean & soft pelts from both hides & skins.


Mineral Tanning agent :-

Chromitan FB-MS S : Homogeneous self- basifying chrome tanning agent.
Basicity 50%

Bilutan BN : Basic Aluminum Complex tanning agent for leathers with
denser and tighter grain. It imparts brilliant and deeper
dyed shades and excellent nap for suede and nubuck
leather.

Bilutan AS : Light fast tanning agent based on aluminum syntan
complex, gives exceptionally good surface feel & uniform
deeper dyeing.

Bilutan ASC : Tanning agent based on chrome, aluminum & Syntan
complex. It gives very smooth & tight grain, brilliant &
deeper dyed shades, excellent nap for nubuck & suede.

Bilutan ARS : Aluminum Aromatic Resin replacement type Syntan for
light fast white leathers & Retanning agent for all types of
leather.




Auxiliaries for Mineral Tannage :-

Implenal FB-AP Liquid : Masking agent for chrome tannage to improve fullness.

Neutrigan FB : Mild basifying & complexing safety neutralizing agent,
forms no precipitate with chrome tanning agent improves
fullness of leather & levelness of shade.

Bilsapon LPK : Scouring agent for raw skins & fur skins. It has excellent
detergent, wetting & dispersing properties & Tanning
auxiliary for soft chrome leather.

Basyntan FB-MN : Neutral salts of aromatic sulphonic acid. It neutralizes the
leather without bleaching of shade. It is lightfast and
imparts good buffing property.

Tamol FB-NS Liquid


: Very uniform and effective neutralising agent based on
neutral salts of aromatic sulphonic acid together with
aliphatic di-carboxylic acid. Produces lightfast leather with
fine and tight grain without weakening the intensity of
shade


Pretanning Agent :-

Basyntan FB-P : Pretanning agents for leather to be vegetable tanned. In
special cases also used as retanning agents for chrome
leather.
Basyntan FB-CD

: Chrome containing retanning agent.

Basyntan FB-CNH

: Versatile high exhaustion chrome complexed tanning
agent for all types of leathers. It produces tighter & fuller
leathers with deeper dyeing.

Basyntan FB-EN

: Chrome complexed with aromatic condensation product.
Produces tighter leather with finer grain and pleasant
surface feel. Most suitable for suede and nubuck leather

Basyntan FB-M

: Synthetic tanning agent for rapid vegetable tannage with
good dispersing properties.

Bleach Tanning Agent :-

Basyntan FB-FC : Bleach tanning agent for vegetable tanned or retanned
leathers.

Basyntan FB-FCBJ 3 : Bleach tanning agent for vegetable tanned or retanned
leathers.


Synthetic Tanning Agent :-

Basyntan FB-DI

: Produces full & resilient leather. Used for all types of
leathers, including very light coloured leather, for
retanning chrome leather. Has pronounced phlobaphane-
dissolving properties.

Basyntan FB-SDI

: Synthetic tanning agent for full & resilient leather. Can be
used to retan all types of leathers, Imparts good
mellowness and smooth surface feel.

Basyntan FB-DFF

: Versatile synthetic retanning agent for all types of leather.
Imparts good fullness, mellow handle & smooth surface
feel. Well suited for retannage of formaldehyde free
leathers

Basyntan AN

: For retanning chrome leathers that are to be dyed in full
& brilliant shades

Basyntan FB-ANF Liquid

: Synthetic Tanning agent for retanning chrome leathers,
produces full tight & brilliant leathers.



Tanning Agent for White Leather :-

Basyntan FB-DLE : Tanning agent for light fast white leather, produces tight
fine pored grain.


Resin Tanning Agent :-

Basyntan FB-6 : Lightfast resin retanning agent for chrome leather and
corrected grain side leather; improves tightness of grain
and buffing properties.


Relugan D


: Lightfast resin retanning agent for producing soft leathers
having distinctly improved fullness, excellent grain
tightness together with good dyeing properties.

Basyntan FB-77 : Anionic synthetic modified resin tanning agent for
retannage of all types of leather to improve fullness &
tightness of grain.


Relugan S : Lightfast, anionic resin retanning agent for chrome leather
& has good levelling & dispersing effect. Improves nap of
suede leather.




Aldehyde Tanning agent :-

Relugan GT-50 : 50% solutions of Glutaraldehyde used as pretanning, self-
tanning and retanning agent for all types of leather.


Relugan GTW : 45% Solution of a modified Glutaraldehyde; gives lightfast
leathers which can be readily dyed in brilliant shades.
Disperses natural grease and improves fineness of grain


Polymer Tanning agent :-

Relugan RE : Lightfast polymer tanning agent for retanning chrome
leather; retains chrome leather character, gives level
shade, slight colour lightening effect, improves adhesion
of finish applied later on.

Relugan RF : Resin tanning agent for use in the chrome tannage and
retannages to improve the fullness, tightness of grain and
lightfastness.


Relugan RV : Anionic, water soluble resin tanning agent, which
improves fullness & tightness of grain.



Relugan SE : Polymeric retanning agent for lightfast and heat resistant
leather. Imparts finer grain and soft handle and responds
well to dyeing.


Specialty Retanning Agent :-

Basyntan FB-AMN

: Environment friendly retanning syntan free from phenol
and formaldehyde. It gives fuller and tighter leather of
high dyeing value.

Basyntan FB-FFS : Versatile synthetic retanning agent for excellent grain
tightness and improved fullness. Well suited for retannage
of formaldehyde free leathers.

Basyntan FB-SN Liquid. : Condensation product based on sulphone. Eco-friendly
low phenol, extremely low free formaldehyde and low
TDS retanning agent for Fuller and tighter leather.
Produces very fine even break after milling.

Basyntan FB-HL : Polycondensation product for retannage of leather based
on aromatic compounds with special additives. Most
suitable for upgradation of poor quality raw material
having uneven grain surface.

Basyntan FB-VB

: A synergistic retanning agent based on modified
vegetable extract. It makes the leather fuller & tighter, but
retains softness & resiliency. It renders maximum filling
through out the leather.

Basyntan FB-LR : Synthetic retanning agent based on poly condensate &
organic additives. Makes the leather full, soft with mellow
handle. Most suitable for shoe lining leather


Fatliquoring Agents :-

Lipoderm Liquor 2 FB : Anionic, sulphited mixed vegetable oil, has a pale colour,
and good filling properties; suitable for upper leathers.
and fairly good fastness to light.

Lipoderm Liquor FB-16 : Anionic, semi synthetic fatliquor.


Lipoderm Liquor FB -17 : Sulphited natural and synthetic oil with special
hydrocarbons, substitute of fatliquors based on fish oil.

Lipoderm Liquor FB WF : Anionic, sulphited, Lanolin based, reduces water
absorption and wettability of leather by water and
improves the fatliquoring effect.

Lipoderm Liquor FB-20 : Anionic, fairly lightfast. Replacement product for sulphited
fatliquors containing sperm oil.

Lipoderm Liquor FB SC : Anionic, replacement for sulphited fatliquors containing
sperm oil. It has good penetrating effect and
lightfastness.

Lipoderm Liquor SA : Anionic lightfast synthetic fatliquoring agent. Can be used
with natural oils. Also suitable as a component in
multicharge fatliquors.

Lipoderm Liquor SAF : Anionic synthetic lightfast fatliquoring agent. Exerts a
penetrative fatliquoring effect and imparts particularly
waxy feel and an elastic grain to leathers.

Lipoderm Liquor FB-25 : Anionic fatliquor recommended for all types of soft,
lightfast leathers.

Lipoderm Liquor FB-SN : Anionic fatliquor, imparts very good inner softness .
Recommended for all types of soft, lightfast leathers.

Lipoderm Liquor FB-CKS : Anionic, synthetic fatliquor, penetrative & lightfast, imparts
drier surface feel to the grain leathers.

Lipoderm Liquor FB WS : Anionic, highly penetrative fatliquor for extremely high
interior softness. Recommended for garment, upholstery
and other soft leathers.

Lipoderm Liquor FB SL : Anionic, lecithin based fatliquor for excellent softness
together with full and fluffy feel. Recommended for
upholstery, garment, bag & other nappa leathers.

Lipoderm Liquor FB SF : Anionic, lightfast fatliquor specially designed to produce
medium to high soft leathers with dry surface feel.
Suitable for shoe uppers, bag, industrial gloving,
upholstery etc.

Lipoderm Liquor FB-BW : Anionic synthetic fatliquor based on sulphonated oil.
Imparts good softness with absolute dry feel. Specially
recommended for glaze and all types of upper leather.

Lipoderm Liquor FB PE : Anionic, fatliquor based on phosphated ester. Produces
light weight leather with very good interior softness.
Suitable for garment, upholstery, bag & other nappa
leathers

Lipoderm Liquor FB-ES : Anionic synthetic fatliquor based on sulphonated oil. Light
weight and highly penetrating fatliquor for all types of soft
leather.

Lipoderm Liquor FB-GL


: Semi synthetic fatliquor based on synthetic oil, fatty ester
& modified natural oil. It has got a good exhaustion
characteristics and imparts waxy feel to the leather.
Recommended for industrial gloving leather.

Lipoderm Liquor FB-LN


: Semi synthetic fatliquor based on modified synthetic &
natural oil. It penetrates readily & evenly throughout the
leather. Well suited for shoe lining leather

Lipoderm Oil FB SK : Lightfast synthetic oil; replacement for neats foot oil;
inhibits fatty spue.

Lipamin Liquor FB 3 : Cationic fatliquor based on natural oil, can be used as
component in multicharge fatliquors; particularly suitable
for leathers to be vacuum dried.

Lipamin Liquor FB SO : Lightfast, cationic synthetic fatliquor. Also suitable for
multicharge fatliquors.

Anionic Dyes :-

Luganil / Lurazol Dyes : Homogeneous anionic dyestuff with good dyeing
properties. Depending upon their performance
characteristics ( fastness properties), they can be used to
dye all types of leathers.

Luganil Yellow FB-G : Clear Greenish Yellow
Luganil Light Brown FB-NG : Yellowish Pale Brown
Luganil Orange NG : Clear , yellowish orange
Luganil Orange FB-NR : Reddish Orange
Luganil Brown FB-3GN : Vivid Pale Brown

Leather Black FB PR6

: Basic dyes preparation for attractive brilliant black
shade.

Dyeing Auxiliaries :-

Biltan LA : Anionic leveling agent for pastel shades, produced with
acid & direct dyestuffs.

Biltan LF : Anionic, light fast leveling agent for pale shades with
anionic, e.g. acid & direct dyes.

Lipamin FB-OK : Cationic fixing agents for anionic dyes, fatliquors. It
increases the depth of the shade remarkably.

Relugan AME : Amphoteric , polymeric dyeing auxiliary to level and
deepen the shades. Improves coverage of slight grain
defects and tightens the grain, which improves the quality
of the leather.


Dyes for spraying Curtain Coating & Printing :-


Eukesolar Dyes ( Liquid ) : Homogeneous metal complex dyes for colouring leather
by spraying, curtain coating & printing. Also for colouring
& brightening finish mixtures. They are characterized by
high brilliancy & good fastness to water spotting & light.


Eukesolar Yellow FB GL Liquid : Greenish Yellow
Eukesolar Orange FB RL Liquid : Neutral Orange
Eukesolar Brown FB RG Liquid : Greenish Brown
Eukesolar Brown FB 5RL Liquid : Medium Red brown
Eukesolar Red FB GL Liquid : Neutral Red
Eukesolar Navy Blue FB RL Liquid : Weakly reddish blue

Bilacryls

:


Cationic dye solutions miscible in water. They are
characterized by high covering property and brilliancy.
They increase the surface depth and possess high
fastness properties.


Bilacryl Black : Slightly greenish black

Aqueous Finishes
Acrylic Binders :-


Leather Ground F : Polyacrylic solution, an impregnating agent for grain-
tightening.

Bilbind FG I : Polyacrylate dispersion, an impregnating agent for grain,
tightening of full grain leather.

Corial Binder IF : Polyacrylic dispersion , can serve either as deeply
penetrating binder for grain impregnation or as surface
coating binder for finishing.

Corial Binder FB-OBN : Soft, stretchy film which giver finishes with very good wet
fastness properties. Good light fastness, only slightly
tacky.

Corial Binder FB-OHN : Very soft film either used alone as bottoming agents or in
conjunction with other bottoming agents as plasticizing
component in pigment coats; for glove and garment
leather.

Bilbind LL : Aqueous Co-polymeric dispersion. Mainly suitable for
finishing soft leathers and maintains natural feel and
handle.

Corial Binder FB-OL : Soft, stretchy film. Not thickenable with ammonia, very
slightly tacky. Good light-fastness. Good cold crack
resistance.

Corial Binder BAN : Aqueous, anionic acrylic dispersion for brilliant finishes.
Gives finishes a natural and elegant touch with good
fastness properties.

Corial Microbinder FB-AM : Finely divided polymer dispersion for aniline like finishes
which cover up grain faults well without impairing the
leather character or grain pattern.

Luron Binder S : Anionic, colloidal solution, thickening agent in finish
mixtures for curtain coating and roll coating, improves
adhesion.


Compact Binders :-

Lepton Binder FB-SD : Mixed Binder (compact binder), very good filling effect, for
both grain leather and split, applied by a simple method to
give very good fibre bonding and a surface with
exceptionally good flexing endurance.

Lepton Binder FB- CG : Compact binder of very good filling effect and high flexing
endurance, can be used for highly filled smooth finishes.



Protein Binders / Top Coats :-


Eukesol Binder FB-U : Non-thermoplastic casein-based binder for plate and
glaze finishes; improves resistance to acetone and
fastness to hot plating of polymer finishes.

Eukesol Binder FB-EB : Self plasticized water soluble casein based binder;
Intended for use in resin finishes for high filling and soft
pleasing handle; reduces tackiness on plating.

Luron Lustre FB-TE : Elastic Binders, non-thermoplastic casein-based binders
for glaze finishes.

Luron Top FB-1 : Casein-like top coating agent, primarily for Aniline
Leather.


Pigment Dispersion :-

Lepton Colours : Casein free finishes (except deep black FB-1) in paste
form.

Lepton White FB-1

: Neutral pure white
Lepton Black FB-1

: Neutral black
Lepton Deep Black FB-1 : Deep Black containing colouring matters
and protein like binder.

Lepton J et Black FB-G

: Brilliant Black


Finishing Auxiliaries :-

Eukesol Oil Ground : Cationic oil emulsion, can be coloured with basic dyes.
Reduces absorbency of leather surface and improves
elasticity.

Lepton Wax FB-A : Cationic wax emulsion, improves handle and fullness,
inhibits tackiness on plating and piling. Improves handle of
finish.

Lepton Wax FB-B : Emulsified fatty acid esters, used to reduce tackiness on
plating and piling.

Lepton Filler FB-K : Improves fullness in bottoming coats, reduces tackiness
on piling and plating.

Eukesol Oil FB-P : Improves glazing properties of leathers; additional
plasticizer for Protein binders.

Amollan FB-1 : Penetrator for grain-tightening impregnation.


Eukesol Oil FB-1 : Oil for pull up effect.





Lacquer & Lacquer Emulsions / Auxiliaries :-


Corial EM Base FB-S : Nitrocellulose emulsion for top coats with good gloss and
smooth supple handle. Versatile & easy to use, can be
diluted with water as well as organic solvents. Gives high
mechanical fastness when used as topcoat.


Bilemfin 6 : Nitrocellulose emulsion, top coating agent, imparts good
fastness properties to finishes.


Corial EM Finish FB-KN : Nitrocellulose emulsion, top coating agent or auxiliary
binder for finishes with polymer dispersions; gives very
high gloss and excellent wet rubfastness.


Corial EM Finish FB-CA : Top coating emulsion, which gives surfaces that are
resistant to yellowing with good fastness properties.


Corial Lacquer FM : Nitrocellulose lacquer for very elastic top coats of medium
to high gloss; particularly for leathers to be milled.


Corial Lacquer FB-CE : Nitrocellulose ester lacquer, free of nitro groups, for high
gloss top coats. Non yellowing, tackfree & resistant to
amines.


Corial Matting G : Matting agent for water-based or solvent-based finishes.



Handle Variating Agents :-


Corial Wax FB-EG : Handle variating agent for both aqueous and non aqueous
top coating finishes


Corial Wax S : Handle regulating agent for top coats; imparts improved

Corial Wax FB-G : smoothness and pleasant silky feel to finished leather
surface.
