My professional growth plan will focus on building a teaching persona where I can best use

AUSL signature strategies and language while also forming relationships with students and
community members. This will make me a better teacher as it will increase my proficiency in all
4 Danielson domains as being more skilled in strategy and practice will help me with the
Planning and Instruction domains, and being more skilled with forming relationships will help me
with the Class Management and Professionalism domains. To do this, I will focus on being a
reflective teacher, seeking feedback, and making extra efforts to increase my availability to
students and the community.

Areas to push for professional growth:
Improve teaching persona; improve relationships with students, and ability to manage
difficult groups.
Further build upon use of signature strategies, bmc, and best practice methods.
Make connections in the community.
Collaborate with other PE teachers for improved instruction and sports coaching.
Learn how to be an effective Athletic Director.

To do this, I will take these steps:
Use frequent checks for understanding, self-ratings, surveys, entrance/exit tickets, and
other formative assessments to assess students understanding of content.
Seek out appropriate professional feedback; ask for observations from senior teachers,
MRC, turnaround coach, administration, or others.
Engage opportunities for coaching sports and events, and attend student events even if
not directly involved. Use this as an opportunity to support students and network with
community members.
Focus on personal commitment to making every interaction a teachable moment with
students, regardless of whether it is in or out of class, in or out of school.
Stay current with professional memberships and publications; these would include
ACSM, IAHPERD, SmartBrief, NIH, and others. Use these to make sure content is up to
date and fits with current academic standing in society.
Ask for opportunities to observe other teachers and to attend PD sessions to expand my
practice.
Seek out opportunities to interact with community; these could take the form of family
nights where the gym is open to the community, free training classes for fitness and
health topics, or many smaller opportunities such as meeting with parents at sports
games or checking in with parents through periodic phone calls.
Communicate with current Athletic Directors to seek information, methods, and to learn
about how to be an Athletic Director.
