Vocabulary for Photosynthesis

1. Photosynthesis-the process in which plants and some other organisms use the
energy in sunlight to make food
2. Chlorophyll-a green pigment that traps energy from the sum
3. Chloroplasts-an organelle in a plant cell that turns energy from the sun into
chemical energy for the plant to use
4. carbon dioxide-a waste product made by cells of the body; a gas in the air made of
carbon and oxygen atoms
5. chloroplast-a plastid that contains chlorophyll and in which photosynthesis takes
place.
