Competence
Identifies, formulates and produces sentences using the linking verbs in oral and written way when
describing and introducing a subject appropriately and accurately in different contexts of real life
situations.
Rationale
Nowdays it is necessary for any person to be able to hold a conversation with other people whom
he/she is not familiar with,
Lesson Content Describing and identifying additional information about a subject using linking verbs.
INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
a. Warm-Up Describe the picture T shows a picture and have Ss take turns saying a
statement about it. Ss can make up a story to go with the picture. Ss arent allowed to
repeat what someone else said, so the need to pay attention when each Ss speaks,
(Variation: Ss take turns with the T).
b. Teaching Procedures
Presentation: activate prior knowledge, emphasize function of linking verbs, establish
the grammar structure of a sentence emphasizing in the linking verb, the T ask for
some examples to see if Ss understood.
Controlled Practice: Fill the blanks T handles a worksheet to Ss and they have to fill
the blanks, then each Ss reads one sentence to the class.
Semi Controlled Practice: Pair work Ss in their groups, one Ss share a short story about
someone they know and the other Ss identifies the linking verbs (take turns with the
other Ss).
Free Practice: Create a story Ss forms groups of three and then the T handles to them
a picture, the Ss have to create a story about the picture using linking verbs.
c. Closure: Each group tells their story and the rest of their classmates identify some
linking verbs.

d. Feedback: Video (link is in the material and aids section).
e. Student Participation: Dialoguing about linking verbs in the stories.
f. Homework: Research what other verbs are considered as linking verbs.
NOTE: the period is of 60 mins.
