My mum makes perfumed oil and my dad is a
salesman. He sales perfume. Every day people have a
bath in the Nile river and afterwards they put on
perfumed oils. My mum makes her perfume using lots
of flowers.
Whats a Pharaoh?

I live in a little white house with my parents and two siblings: my sister,
Sacmis and my brother, Thoth. There are lots of children in my city, two or
three in each family. We love playing together. Our favourite game is called
Senet. Senet is similar to Backgammon or Ludo.
Look! This is a photograph of my mum and my two siblings. My mum loves
wearing long linen dresses, jewelry and make-up. Well, everybody in Egypt
wears make-up; even children!

I live in a little city near the Nile river.
Do you go to school?

Yes I do. My favourite subject is arithmetic. Arithmetics is part of what you call mathematics. I also study
religion, reading and writing. Egyptian writing is called Hieroglyphics. Instead of letters we use pictures to
write.
Some of my friends dont go to school. They learn their parents jobs from them. My best friend Bes is
learning to become an artisan just like his father.
Who do you live with?

A Pharaoh is a king. They are very rich and powerful. Some famous pharaohs are: Ramesses, Tutankhamun
and Cleopatra. When a pharaoh dies, to stop the body rotting, people wrap the body in bandages, and put it
in a coffin. This is called making a mummy. Some pharaohs are buried inside enormous stone pyramids
along with their treasure.
What Gods do you believe in?


We invented papyrus (paper), black ink, clocks, the
365 day calendar, 24 hour day, sailboats, keys,
locks, make-up and many other things.
