Lesson Plan twelve

Similarities between Great Depression and


Recession
(Tuesday 3
rd
Week)


Objectives: Students will use their textbooks and information they found
online to compare the similarities of the Great Depression and Recession.
Students will how and relate how the historical events are similar. How it
affected the economy, employment, and society.

Teacher preparation/Instruction Students activities/ assignments
Step 1: Teacher will instruct one
person from each group to get the
iPads for their group. Teacher will
than instruct them to open the app
pages.

Step 2: Teacher will instruct them to
look at the four documents they
found on the Recession and their
articles provided by the teacher on
the first day of class. If they do not
have the articles with them they can
assess them from their emails.
Step 1: Students will send one
person from their group to get the
iPads for their groups. They will on
their app pages.

Step 2: Students will open the four
documents and app pages.

Step 3: Students will discuss the
similarities of the Great Depression
and Recession. They will compare
both events using the documents they
found, articles and history textbooks.

Step 3: Teacher will instruct groups
to find the similarities between
unemployment, economies and
Society.

Step 4: Teacher will instruct
students to make an individual T-
chart on their pages app. They will
list the similarities and evidence to
back them up.
a. The teacher will meet with all
the groups and assess on their
progress.

Step 5: Teacher will instruct students
to share their finding with their
group. They will than chose one
person in their group to create a T-
chart and they will all decide what
will be on the chart of similarities.

Step 6: Teacher will instruct the
students to send their group T-charts
and individual T-chart to the
classroom email.


Step 4: Students will create a
individual T-chart on their pages
app. They will list the similarities.
One side will be the Great
Depression and the other side will be
the recession.

Step 6: Students will send their
individual T-chart and group T-chart
to the teachers classroom email.
