Ofsted Inspectors Report 9 June 2014

The Humanist & Cultural Muslim Association has expressed alarm at todays findings by Ofsted
reports that allege a number of Birmingham schools have been targeted by slamist extremists !ith a
vie! to ta"ing over and enforcing a harsh interpretation of slam#
HCMA $ounder %aif &ahman commented' (These findings suggest !e have in our midst a group of
!ell)organised and highly determined extremists that are focused on using civic institutions to
promote extremism# *e cannot continue failing our children# n order to combat this threat+ !e
believe much more needs to be done to ensure state schools are not used by extremists to push an
extremist agenda#,
HCMA suggests'
Teachers and governors need to be offered training on ho! to identify extremism in
pupils and ho! to tac"le it
Measures need to be ta"en to ensure sub-ects li"e evolution and sex education are
taught fairly and not dismissed on religious grounds#
Any form of religious preaching or enforcement of conservative religious codes
should not be enforced#
.xternal spea"ers should be vetted and individuals !ith extremist lin"s should not be
allo!ed to !or" in schools#
%chools should be -udged on a much !ider criteria that includes inclusion and
citi/enship as !ell as academic results#
