Consult other teachers, school counseling, department chair, or other resources
Data Review SOL Scores, MAP scores, ARDT scores
If the teacher is unsure of how to proceed with any of these interventions feel free
to proceed to the VTSS Consultation.

Behavioral and Educational Supports

SAP Student Assistance Program: a process that helps students who are experiencing
problems that interfere with learning such as alcohol or drugs, personal problems,
family, and health issues. Students are connected to services so that they can overcome
the problem(s) and be successful in school.

Teachers can directly request support from this team

VTSS Virginia Tiered System of Supports- team that assists in the process of teachers
utilizing evidence-based, system-wide practices to provide a response to academic and
behavioral needs. These practices can include frequent progress-monitoring,
observations, and conversations that enable teachers to make sound, data-based
instructional decisions for students. These interventions and supports may or may not
lead to a Special Education referral.

YCAPP Youth Challenged and Positively Promoted: provides mentoring and small
group case management for students in need of specialized care and/or are
experiencing difficulties in several aspects of their lives.
