Assisted suicide

Another common reason may against assisted suicide is religious. The main source of this
religious opposition comes from the Jewish-Christian religions. Out of these, the Roman
Catholic Church is the strongest opponent. Islamic and Buddhist faiths also do not agree
with euthanasia (Voluntary Euthanasia Society, n.d). The most usual religious argument is
that human life is sacred. They believe that life is given by God. Birth and death are part of
the life processes which God has created, so we should respect them. Therefore, we
shouldn't intervene in God's plans by shortening human lives. Moreover, religious people
see value of life as well as value of suffering. Life is a thing of value in itself; it's value doesn't
depend on the extent that it brings pleasure and well-being. This means that suffering and
pain do not stop life being valuable, and are not a reason for ending life.
