Students will work in groups to artificially propagate plants using a technique like air layering. They must produce at least 10 healthy plants to sell at a school plant sale for no more than $30 total cost of production. Through this project, students will learn the steps of propagation techniques like air layering, how rooting hormones and cambium layer scraping are used, and demonstrate safety practices while working cooperatively in a group. Their work will be assessed based on their portfolio, process, final products, presentation, safety practices, and group participation.
