Unit 3: Personal Study Art

For your Unit 3 module work you need to complete a Personal study as
well as your practical work. Your Personal Study however should relate
to your practical work and to work covered in the first half of the term.
The Personal study will consist of;

 A 1000-3000 word essay

 A presentation with images and clips of the essay to camera

DEADLINES:

 Draft 1 should be handed in on the Monday of week 13 and will

be given back on the Tuesday or Friday.
 Draft 2 will be handed in at the beginning of Term 2
 Both elements need to be completed by February 2010

Essay

 The Essay needs to have a sustained argument regarding the

director or topic of your choice.
 Try not to make it simply an overview of the Director or
movement.
 You must look at the aesthetic elements of the
movements/works primarily (Mise-en-scene, conceptual ideas,
Camerawork, sound etc).
 You will need to find clips and two or three film/scene anlysis.

Presentation

 You will be filmed presenting your essay to camera.

 You will then be able to edit your own presentation using images
and text.
 Try to be creative with the presentation of your essay rather than
simply reading from the text.
