To Whom It May Concern:
It is my pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Abigail Strietmann who has
been the long-term substitute teacher in my classroom during my maternity leave.
During the eight-week time in my classroom, Ms. Strietmann managed four preps
that spanned from sixth grade level mathematics, to middle school sciences and high
school mathematics. Abigail has demonstrated an outstanding ability to organize
and implement student-driven, inquiry-based lessons while becoming a valued
member of Leland Public School community.
Over the past weeks, Ms. Strietmann has engaged students in a variety of lab and
hands-on experiences that had them exploring topics such as bacteria growth and
photosynthesis. Students have commented that her hands-on approach encouraged
them to become very involved in the lesson. Additionally, Abigail brought in a
variety of resources, such as a local vineyard owner, to discuss how the lessons
students were learning relate to our local area.
When asked, the middle school students noted the level of concern Ms. Strietmann
showed for their understanding of topics in both her classes and other courses. They
enjoyed her optimism and easy-going spirit, knowing they could seek her out
whenever they needed assistance.
Ms. Streitmann also became a valued member of the Leland Public School
community. She volunteered to chaperone middle school field trips and has begun
to organize an outdoor club, which she hopes to continue through the rest of the
school year.

Students are the people who spend the most time with teachers, so it only makes
sense to listen to students' comments, concerns, and opinions on what is done in
this classroom. Here's what I want you to do:
Write a 1/2 page (ish) evaluation of Ms. Strietmann for the past two months. How
has she been doing? What is she doing well? How does she work with her
students? How do you know that she cares about your success in science class
(and school in general)?
Please write your response below. You may do this anonymously and you may
type it on your iPad if you'd rather.
Thanks!

MS.Strietmann
For the past two months MS.Strietmann has been a great substitute. She treats her students
very well and listens to them. MS.Strietmann helps her students when ever possible and help's
them understand the subject. At the beginning of this semester I was terrible confused and she
helped me to a point where I could fully understand it and explain it. MS.Stretmann is an
amazing teacher and I have enjoyed having her with us this semester. I had a lot of fun this
semester and really enjoyed having MS.Strietmann was a wonderful sub and an amazing
person.
