Horus: Horus means the one far above. He was the god of the sky.

He was worshiped for


protection. Horus was believed to be the son of Osiris and Isis.







Thoth: Thoth is the god of writing and the god of knowledge. The
egyptians believed that Thoth gave them the gift of the hieroglyphic
writing that they used and that he was somehow connected to the moon.





Anubis: Anubis was the god of embalming and the dead. Anubis helped to embalm Osiris
after he was killed by his brother Seth. Anubis was the god who watched over the process of
mummifying people when they died. Anubis was worshipped for watching over the
mummifying process and guiding the egyptians through to the afterlife.






Bes: Bes was a family god. It was the protector of Pregnant women newborn babies and
families. It was also believes that Bes protected against snake and scorpion bites.




Sobek: Sobek was a man with the head of a crocodile.Sobek was a god of
the Nile.
Sobek was connected with the Nile, and protected the pharaohs . Live crocodiles were kept in
pools at temples in egypt, specifically built to honour Sobek.




Khnum: Khnum was a creator god, and a god of the inundation. Khnum moulded people on a
potter's wheel. And since potters used Nile mud, Khnum was also connected with the
inundation. Khnums image was of a man with a rams head.


Taweret: Taweret was the goddess who protected women during pregnancy and all through
childbirth. Many of the gods and goddesses in ancient Egypt had temples built to honour them,
while other gods and goddesses like Taweret and Bes were worshipped by people in their own
homes.Taweret has the head of a hippopotamus the arms and legs of a lion, the back and tail of
a crocodile, and the breasts and stomach of a pregnant woman.





Ptah: Ptah is the God who is wrapped in a tight white cloak and carrying a staff.
He was the God of Craftsman. He was sometimes described as self created
one. Who made the universe by the wish of his heart and by his tongue. He was
the patron of painters, carpenters, builders and sculptures, also other craftsman.
He was thought to have created masonry.


Ra was the God who wore a hawk head and also a headrest with a sun disk. Ra was the sun
God. Out of the ancient Egyptian Gods he was the most important. Egyptians believed that
every night he was swallowed by the sky goddess nut, And he was reborn every morning. The
Ancient Egyptians also believed that he traveled the underworld at night. In the underworld Ra
appeared as a man with a head of a Ram.


Bastet (Bast): Bastet is a protector goddess. She was the goddess of cats,
protection, joy, dance, music, and love. The cat was a symbol of Bastet. The
ancient Egyptians made many statues of cats to honour Bastet. Bastet was one
of the daughters of the sun god, Ra. A great temple was built in Bastets honour
at Bubastis in the Delta.
