I. Personal Mission Statement

As an ambitious college undergraduate, I continue to strive for excellence
and achieve success. Success to me means mastering your strengths and
improving your weaknesses. My goal is to become a valuable asset as well as a
team leader in my workplace. I plan to do this by, obtaining and adapting to a job
that matches my characteristics and skill set. I will devote my time and energy to
achieve the necessary skills that will allow me to succeed in life and in my career.

II. Statament of Career Goals

My career goal is to become a manager and a competent team leader. I plan to do
this by establishing myself as a valuable asset and an integral component to my
company. As a business management major, it has always been is in my best interest
to excel in a business related workforce. I am prepared to receive the training
needed to become a higher paid employee. My overall career goal path is to surpass
the expectations needed at my workplace and more importantly, enjoy the work I do
so I can support my family and myself. I will pursue these goals as soon as I graduate
from Towson University.

III. My Greatest Strength/My Greatest Weakness

My greatest strength would be my leadership skills. As an extravert, I am able
to express myself and stand out in a crowd. As a former team member of Mimis
Caf, my customer serving skills were recognized in my first year of
employment. Stephen Mariani, a former manager at Mimis Caf, promoted me
up to a server trainer. This enabled me to train new employees and help them
develop the skills needed to become efficient servers.

An ongoing weakness that I am constantly striving to improve on is my
occasional laziness with managing my schedule. I have been known to let
assignments build up until the last minute. This causes me to work under
pressure. I am able to work well under stress without if affecting the best of my
ability, but I need to improve better on the preparation that is needed to
complete necessary tasks. Planning and starting assignments ahead of schedule
will allow myself more time to accomplish objectives, while reducing stress.

IV. Academic Performance Memo

To: Quincey Johnson, BUSX301-012

From: Tommy Barnhart, Towson University Undergraduate

Date: November 21, 2013

Subject: Academic Performance

In my most recent semester at Towson I received a term GPA of 3.165. My
cumulative GPA at Towson is currently a 3.000. As the average GPA at Towson is a
3.3, I plan to graduate with a cumulative GPA of 3.5.

Academic Record

Since my time at Towson University, my overall GPA for the most part has
remained the same. My first semester at Towson University (Fall 2011), I received a
term and Cumulative GPA of 3.000. The following spring, my GPA dropped to a
2.972. My performance improved the fall semester of 2012, as I was able to maintain
a 3.165 cumulative GPA. Then for the spring semester of 2013 my term GPA
dropped to a 2.882, dropping my cumulative GPA to a 3.000

Trends in my Academic Performance

The fluctuation of my GPA since high school has been comparable. After
graduating from Urbana High School, I received my associates degree from
Frederick Community College. I graduated FCC with a 2.9, which was an
improvement from my high school GPA of 2.5. Table 1 below shows a trend line of
my GPA since high school up to now. You can see that despite the minor fluctuations,
my overall GPA has improved since high school.

Reasons for my Academic Performance Quality

I am a competent college student who has his priorities set on graduating.
The reasons for minor drops in my GPA are related to my part time job and other
priorities that exist outside of college. I am taking 5 classes and even though at times
I can become really busy, I still need to work at managing my time better.

Academic Goals and Expectations Upon Graduation

I plan to improve on my academic performance for this coming spring
semester. I will do this by managing my time better and being more aware of
deadlines and exam dates. This will allow me to study more ahead of time, which
will result in better quality work.

V. Job Search Preparedness Memo

To: Quincey Johnson, BUSX301 Professor
From: Tommy Barnhart, Towson University Undergraduate
Date November 19, 2013
Subject: Job Search Readiness

This memo is an analysis of my Job Search Readiness Inventory Grade Sheet. My
score that I received in the beginning of the year, as well as my most recent score
will be displayed and compared.

Results of Readiness Grade Sheet

I received a score of 73 the first time I took the Job Readiness Test. After
learning each the course objectives for BUSX 301 and listening to professor
Johnsons lectures, I was able achieve an improved score of 85. Working with
classmates on assignments has given me some basic experience on how objectives
are met when working in a team.

Benefits of Taking BUSX 301

Business Cornerstone is a great class to take. This class is not just relevant to
business management majors, but to all business majors. I have learned a lot of
valuable knowledge from BUSX 301. Business Cornerstone has greatly improved my
presentation skills and overall, speaking in front of people. This class has also
enabled me to work more efficiently with team members.
Creating our own business venture and writing a pitch was an assignment
that required me to think creatively. This has helped prepare me for some of the
challenges that I could be faced with when working for a business.

VII. Personal Problem Statement and Action Plan Mem

To: Quincey Johnson, BUSX301 Professor
From: Tommy Barnhart Towson University Undergraduate
Date November 19, 2013
Subject: Job Search Readiness

This memo will address several problems that I currently am facing, the
causes of these problems, and the strategies I plan to implement to overcome these
issues.

Problem Identification: Internship and GPA

After my academic performance evaluation and career interview, I realized
there are two problems I need to attend to before I graduate. The first problem is
obtaining an internship. I have yet to apply for an internship, which means I do not
have much experience to show for. The second problem is my current below
average GPA.

Causes of Problems: Time Management

The major cause of my problems is contributed to time management. I am
currently working part time and am taking five classes. I have not gotten a chance to
apply for an internship because my schedule is busy enough as is. My grades can
tend to suffer if I do not put aside enough time to study.

Several Strategies to Solve Problems

I have several strategies that I plan implement, which will eradicate both of
these problems before I graduate. I will seek opportunities to obtain an internship
this summer, or by fall semester of 2014. I will do this buy applying for numerous
internships through Towson University and the CBE center. I also have not taken
BUSX 460 Professional Experience, which is a required class for my major that
requires you to have an internship. I plan to enroll in this class the fall semester of
2014.

Even though my schedule can be hectic at times, I still need to improve on
staying productive during downtime. Setting aside more time to study and complete
assignments will result in higher grades and better quality work, thus raising my
overall GPA.

Evaluation of Problems

I plan to monitor and compare my past GPAs to my current GPA. This will
keep me on track and help me raise my grades before I graduate. If my GPA drops in
any future semester, I will be able to evaluate why this happened and how to fix it. I
will also strive to achieve a higher GPA than Towsons average, which is a 3.3.

Once I obtain an internship, this will be proof that I am accomplishing my
strategies and becoming once step closer to graduating. An internship will provide
me with a foot in the door and give me some on the job experience. If I am able to
raise my GPA to a 3.5, then I will make the deans list and have proof of my improved
academic performance.

VIII. 3 Internships Listing

Three internships that I will be applying for:

significantly after BUSX 301 and this internship will further strengthen these skills.
I love the company Under Armour and I have bought many of their products. The

makes me very satisfied to apply for this position

IX. Brand Building Activities

To: Quincey Johnson, BUSX301 Professor
From: Tommy Barnhart Towson University Undergraduate
Date November 19, 2013
Subject: Brand Building Activities

Activity 1: Receiving help from the writing center.

In the beginning of the semester I was able to visit the writing lab multiple
times to improve my first writing assignment for BUSX 301. This experience helped
me grow more professionally as a writer and taught me some fundamental skills
with writing memos. I learned that less is always more and that all papers should
establish the most important point within the first line of the paragraph.

Activity 2: Receiving tutoring for ECON 205

During the spring semester of last year, I struggled with Statistics for
Managers (ECON 205). I was able to go to tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays from
4 to 5:00 p.m. in 7800 York Road building. I was able to get the help I needed from
tutor, Brittany Michelle. I ended up passing while improving my attention and
teamwork skills.

Activity 3: Serving at Mimis Caf

Being a server at Mimis Caf really improved my communication and
leadership skills. Constant interaction with customers and working with team
members to meet weekly quotas and goals really helped me mature and grow as a
professional. Being a server also helped me multitask more efficiently and stay more
productive. When you are a server you never have downtime, and if you do, you are
forced to help others who are busier than you. This taught me a valuable lesson in
the business world and that team effort is always more efficient than individual
effort.

Activity 4: Taking five to six classes

I am currently enrolled in five classes this semester but I will be taking six
this coming spring. The reason for this is to speed up my expected graduation date
and learn how to better manage my time. Taking six classes, with an internship, and
gaining a higher GPA will be a challenge, but a challenge I am looking forward to
face. My classes next semester are:

EBTM 306 - FUND PROJ MNGT AND BUS DEC
