Materials:
Pen/pencil, Paper, Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mr0oiws9ZvM
Worksheet, PowerPoint, Multimedia Planning Sheet, and Holt Technology.
Technology will be integrated in the introduction through showing a video and with the
creation of a PowerPoint Presentation on mitosis.

Motivation:
Problem Statement: One of your classmates tells you they are having problems understanding
Mitosis (asexual) and Meioses (sexual) reproduction in cells. They asked if you could help them
with the basics. They need a system to understand the steps of mitosis and what mitosis looks
like in each stage. The best way to assist them is through creating a tutorial utilizing PowerPoint
to assist with understanding of Mitosis and Meioses.


Teacher Procedures: Student Procedures:
Prior to the Computer
1. The lesson will begin with two words on
the board haploid and diploid. I will then
lead a discussion on the differences in
these words. (3 minutes)
2. We will then watch a film on Mitosis and
Meiosis and discuss the film (10 minutes)
3. I will steer the student into using an
acronym for remember the steps. Using
Pretty please my dear aunt sally. As an
example. (5 minutes)
4. Will review the steps for Mitosis ad
Meioses and necessary vocabulary that will
be needed to relay the concept of asexual
and sexual cell reproduction. (10 minutes)
5. I will then pose a questions to the students,
If they had to explain cell reproduction to
someone else could they complete the task
and how they would prepare their
explanation. (3 minutes) (closure)

Beginning Day 2
6. I will review what had been discussed
the day before. (5 minutes)
7. I will present the problem statement to
the students. (2 minutes)
1. The students will participate in a
discussion identifying the differences
in haploid and diploid. (3 minutes)
2. The students will then work in pairs to
create an acronym for Mitoses and
Meioses. The students will the
reconvene and discuss their acronyms
(7 minutes)
3. Students will then answer the question
posed to them in a summary. This
information will be used as a base for
the tutorial. (14 minutes)

4. Students will complete a multimedia
sheet for their tutorial. (10 minutes)
5. If there are not available computers
students will complete the Direct
Reader worksheet utilizing their
textbook. ( time will vary while
students are waiting for an available
computer)




At the Computer
1. I will review students work and provide
encouragement while working on tutorial.
2. I will remind the students to compare their
work to the rubric.
