Lesson 1: Website review

Overview: It is important to understand how websites are designed before you start to create
them. So in this lesson you will compare different web sites of different styles and work out what
works and what doesnt.
Steps:
1. What is a high-quality website? As a group, discuss the following questions after visiting the
sites below.

1. Why do you feel that some websites are good?
2. Why do you feel that some websites are not so good?
3. Do others agree with your opinion?
4. Does anyone disagree?
5. What is the target audience for the site?
6. How might website quality be judged differently across different audiences?
7. Are there some qualities of websites that all audiences would agree are good? What are
these qualities?
Answers
1. The websites metro trains and the official afl website were very condensed and
organized which made them easy to read.
2. lings car website has too much going on and all the information is in the same place
which means that it is all just on one long page.
3. Majority of the people I talked to would agree with the points Ive made.
4. No one disagreed.
5. the target audience for the 3 sites Ive mentioned are aimed at a young adult age.
6. The dora the explorer website will be judged higher by small children than by an adult
who is into afl.
7. Having all of the information labelled and condensed into to one spot helps all
websites.
