GREEK LIFE ASSISTANT POSITION DESCRIPTION

INTRODUCTION
The Department of Student Life of University of the Sciences mission is to provide services and opportunities for its
students to engage, learn, and grow. To fulfill its mission and core values of integrity, development, leadership, and
community, the Department of Student Like seeks a para-professional who will represent and serve the Greek and
Campus Communities.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Personal qualities of maturity, self-reliance, motivation, initiative, self-esteem, and integrity
2. Strong interpersonal skills
3. Leadership potential
4. Good conduct standing with the University and the Department of Student Life (no current disciplinary
probation, outstanding judicial fines. Or outstanding student account balances)
5. Have and maintain a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA
6. Be a full-time, matriculated University of the Sciences student
7. Be affiliated with a recognized fraternity or sorority on campus at USciences

PERIOD OF AGREEMENT
The Greek Life Assistant is a work-study position. The period of employment is for the entire academic year, until work
study funds are depleted.

The Greek Life Assistant position is a one-year appointment. The Greek Life Assistant has the option to re-apply for
another year. Reappointment is contingent upon his/her continued ability to meet all qualifications, successful
completion of tasks, and exhibition of growth in the position.

TIME COMMITMENT
Based on available work study funds, the Assistant Director of Student Life and Greek Life Assistant will agree on a
minimum set of scheduled hours per week in the Fraternity and Sorority Life Office. In addition, the Greek Life Assistant
may be required to participate in and/or work special events that may be held in the evening or weekends. The
Assistant Director will give early notice of these events that require attendance.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Greek Life Assistant is expected to conduct him/herself maturely and to be attuned to the goals and objectives of
the Student Life program. The primary goal is to provide services and address the needs of the Greek Community. To
achieve this goal, the Greek Life Assistant is responsible for:
SERVING THE GREEK COMMUNITY
1. Communicate with the Greek student population by use of social media, listserves, and emails
2. Respond to student inquiries regarding Fraternity & Sorority Life matters
3. Participate in Inter-Greek Council meetings, representing the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life as well as the
Department of Student Life, and identifying the needs of the Greek student population
4. Provide educational programming for Greek students such as workshops about resources available to Greek
students and/or Greek Leaders
5. Act as a role model by enforcing policies and procedures set by Department of Student Life and the University
6. Serve as a resource and consultant for the Greek Achievement Plan
7. Be available to talk with students on a one-on-one basis
8. Other duties as assigned.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
1. Meet with the Assistant Director of Student Life to discuss own professional development and evaluate
performance on a bi-weekly basis
2. Regularly communicate with Assistant Director of Student Life
3. Proactively research current trends and best practices that pertain to serving Greek student populations
4. Attend any training sessions or workshops that the Assistant Director of Student Life feels important for the
Greek Life Assistants performance
5. Be open to developing a working relationship with other Student Life or Student Affairs staff members
6. Commit to promoting cultural and social diversity by not engaging in any behavior, which is, or perceived to be,
discriminatory or offensive.
7. Other duties as assigned.

MEETING EXPECTATIONS
1. Complete administrative tasks on time. If Greek Life Assistant expects to be late with an assignment, he/she will
communicate to Assistant Director of Student Life in advance
2. Work in the Inter-Greek Council Office, following his/her established scheduled office hours. If Greek Life
Assistant expects to be late or absent, he/she will request permission from Assistant Director of Student Life in
advance

The Greek Life Assistant will carry out, accurately and punctually, all duties as described in this position description. The
position description is not an all-inclusive statement of the responsibilities of the Greek Life Assistant. Special
circumstances may necessitate the assignment of additional responsibilities.
