    RESOLUTION

    For Abolition of Death Penalty

    Whereas the United States is one of the few remaining civilized nations that
    maintains the death penalty, and

    Whereas the death penalty has not been proven to be a deterrent to crime, and

    Whereas the death penalty is opposed by many people because of creed,


    philosophy, or conscience,

    Be it therefore resolved that the Democratic Party will work toward the abolition
    of the death penalty in Texas.
