Coaches and other support staff should join in on this too? They do not pull our kids, the least they can do is spend extra time after school like we do! 2/25/2014 9:11:25 3:30-4:30 pm Yes Not yet. enjoy networking with other teachers from the surrounding community. t is fun to see what other teachers are doing in their rooms from the comfort of my living room. Y'all are doing great! 2/25/2014 9:19:26 8:00-9:00 pm Yes used the idea of menus and different new technology to differentiate and allow more student choice to demonstrate their learning. have really enjoyed getting to know new fellow 5th grade teachers as well as other admins. t gives me a boost in my PLN and more people to use as resources. Since many 5th grades are departmentalized, it might be nice to have some chats focused by subject. Timestamp What grade level chat did you participate in (or will in the future)? Do you have any recommendations on how we can improve our future grade level chats? 2/25/2014 9:30:49 8:00-9:00 pm Yes deas for technology projects. Books for ELAR objectives. Math rotation ideas. t is so important for us to connect our campuses. We are all teaching the same content, and it is so helpful to share our ideas, what is working on our campuses, and to get ideas of how to fix things that are not working. Vertical chats by subject area would be great!
More teachers, less admin. 2/25/2014 9:33:56 8:00-9:00 pm Yes wonder activities 2/25/2014 9:37:23 3:30-4:30 pm Yes Project ideas 2/25/2014 9:42:47 3:30-4:30 pm Yes learned of some helpful resources and apps to share with me teams. The chats put me in contact with some people with great ideas and great resources. Always nice to hear how other people are using apps and resources and ways to integrate within our curriculum. still did not have many teachers participate. Wished could find another way to get them more motivated to see the importance of using this as a collaboration tool. 2/25/2014 10:00: 05 3:30-4:30 pm No have not participated yet because the time was not convenient for my family. Not have them so late! 2/25/2014 10:18: 52 8:00-9:00 pm Yes The websites that were shared about the Live Binder were very helpful along with the ideas of how to review vocabulary. liked being able to communicate easily with other teachers in the district and learn who is teaching specific subject areas. 2/25/2014 10:19: 40 8:00-9:00 pm Yes found great ideas in the Live Binders for poetry. Since this is only my second year in fifth grade (after teaching fourth for many years) am always looking for great ideas to enrich curriculum. t's also just nice to see who else is out there for support and sharing resources! 2/25/2014 10:26: 38 3:30-4:30 pm No Yes. feel like have been able to follow others on Twitter and this gives me a "peek" into their classroom and also gives me ideas of what can incorporate into our own learning! Really wish we could do a Google Hangout..where we could actually talk to one another and not be so limited on characters. 2/25/2014 11:15: 20 8:00-9:00 pm have not participated as of yet but an to. have not participated as of yet but an to. have not participated as of yet but an to. 2/25/2014 11:50: 23 8:00-9:00 pm No 2/25/2014 12:03: 48 8:00-9:00 pm Yes have shared several resources with teachers at my school that learned about in a Tweet Chat -- too numerous to list! Yes, definitely. might like to see a more content specific opportunity for upper grades in the future, ex/ 4th grade ELAR teachers.
There's definitely a lot of sharing of ideas in the Tweet Chats, but one of the most valuable pieces to come from them is the positivity that builds in each session! participated in all of the Tweet Chats, but wasn't able to check that. Also, maybe a time of 3:15-4:15 would be another option to consider as that's our normal time for after school meetings and PD. 2/25/2014 13:18: 05 3:30-4:30 pm Timestamp What grade level chat did you participate in (or will in the future)? When we've had several topics or content areas to discuss we only hit the surface. 2/25/2014 14:14: 28 3:30-4:30 pm 2/25/2014 14:24: 05 8:00-9:00 pm Yes learned about a new animation/production tool for the iPad. also get so inspired by all of the different ideas! Do you have any recommendations on how we can improve our future grade level chats? 2/25/2014 16:42: 54 3:30-4:30 pm No liked the Wonder website. However, didn't come away with great ideas and wonderful revelations. think it is a good idea, but was not well implemented. felt that it was all Admin, C&, and MRS. t didn't seem like very many teachers were participating. Plus, every other line was 'way to go' or ' agree' or ' like that'. t was very hard to follow. would rather have a true chat with 1st grade teachers about what we are doing rather than a praise session with admin.
think it needs to be just 1st grade teachers with 1 moderator. The rest of the people (Admin, MRS, C&) can watch or listen in, but let the teachers chat!
t would also be nice if the subjects were a few weeks out. We talked a lot about polar bears, but our campus had already planned and printed everything we were doing. 2/25/2014 17:55: 24 3:30-4:30 pm Yes 've only participated in one chat for a brief period of time. look forward to the applicable content during the next Kinder Chat. 2/25/2014 18:52: 46 8:00-9:00 pm No Timestamp What grade level chat did you participate in (or will in the future)? New technology that people are applying to existing curriculum. Twitter in general has helped me expand my networking :) think that the questioning should be geared specifically to upcoming curriculum. For instance- what technology are you integrating? what new activity or station are you adding? How are you differentiating during this unit? 2/26/2014 6:38:23 8:00-9:00 pm Yes 2/26/2014 7:00:29 8:00-9:00 pm Yes Timestamp What grade level chat did you participate in (or will in the future)? Which is fine! got more technology ideas - Symbaloos and websites with good information that didn't already know about. also have better learned how to use Twitter. We need to find a way (incentives?) to keep people sharing even after the chat night. The only time ever get on Twitter is for these chats. 2/26/2014 8:26:25 3:30-4:30 pm Yes Station ideas and apps am connected to more people. also look at the older and younger grades and use some of their ideas to get them ready for the next grade level. For the younger grades, use the information to know they should already know this. Have more teachers and not have the admin talking all the time. The teachers should share. When we were talking about "math" it wad helpful to learn others' names and hear their ideas 1. Content and grade level specific
2. Vertically aligned content chats 2/28/2014 3:47:13 3:30-4:30 pm Yes polar research love sharing ideas with other first grade teachers! slow down:) Timestamp What grade level chat did you participate in (or will in the future)? There are so many people on there at once that it is very hard to keep up in my opinion. 2/28/2014 4:39:02 8:00-9:00 pm No The time is the biggest issue, of course. 'm sure you have heard that. Both choices have issues. 3/3/2014 10:42:57 3:30-4:30 pm No wasn't on Twitter before and now am able to follow other MSD professionals. They need to be earlier.
