Choosing a Personal Project

Stage 1: Brainstorming
1. What do you like to do?
I like to write (mostly in Spanish), play soccer, play video games, watch TV, and socialize; I also like math,
and a lot of other things that dont come to mind at this moment.
2. What are you good at?
Im good at most of the things that I like since I place time and passion to them.
3. What would you like to be good at but have never tried?
I would like to be good at art. I think that this aspect of learning is essential since it aids communication.
Music, art, and drama teach us many things about life, and make this one more interesting and
beautiful.
4. What is something crazy that you would never do?
I would never take a test without studying; nevertheless, this does not mean that I am afraid to fail, not
at all. Moreover, I believe that failure is essential to succeed. Its just that I always want to put my best
effort on the task of incidence, and I cant maximize my own expectations; I always think I can do better.
Stage 2: Evaluating your list
1. Choose your top 3 options out of your list.
Create a novel that compares the life of a Peruvian individual of low resources who
struggles in his fight with the limitations of being curtailed in poverty, with a member of
the high social classes, who struggles to find happiness in his lasts years of life. At last,
these two stories will intertwine in one way or another. By focusing in this theme, I
would learn, in deep, about certain persons I have to interview. Furthermore, I will learn
how writing can impact the life of many people, since I am planning to publish my book,
make a profit from it, and use such money for charity. Personally, I will enhance my
writing, reflecting, organization and critical thinking skills. In short, after this project, I
will be able to say: I am literally an author.
Create a video about the evolution of soccer. In here, I would compare and contrast the
aspects of old-school soccer with modern soccer. For example, I would compare how
professional players kicked the soccer ball back in the days, against the way we kick in
modern days; I could use some math and theory behind this idea since I have to
measure the distances/ slopes of the swings. I would also compare the behavior of the
spectators in the stadiums in the past, with those from the present. I would go with a
go-pro to a stadium and meat with the greatest and most breath-taking fanatics in Peru
(such can be find in El Monumental stadium of: Universitario de Deportes). I will state
how soccer changes by time, and probably predict, based on my evidence, how it will
change in the following decades and beyond. After the culmination of this project I will
be an expert on the art of the beautiful game (soccer).
Create a motorized bicycle. My passion towards robotics and engineering has stimulated
this idea to surge. By focusing in the construction of this bike, I would learn many things.
First of all, I wanted to practice my engineering skills in a real world product, and not
longer in the NXT Legos.
2. Evaluate these option with these questions/criteria:
a. What will you learn by focusing on this goal?
b. What will you accomplish?
c. What story will you have about yourself when youre done?
d. Will this help you to grow in the way you would like to?

Stage 3: Choosing
1. Using your top 3:
a. Think of the type of product you might create.
I think I will lean towards my first choice, the novel. From all my three topics is the SMARTest of all, and
the one I most want to do.
b. Think of the process you would follow and the specifications you would write for
success.
I will need to do several reviews, I will need several peer reviewers, and numerous interviews to people
related to my story so that I could be able to extend this piece to higher levels.
c. Do some research into your topic and record it in your Process Journal.
d. Choose your PP goal and write it out completely on the sheet provided.

fairness and development.

with the limitations of being curtailed in poverty, with a member of the high social classes, who struggles to
find happiness in his lasts years of life. At last, these two stories will intertwine in one way or another.
4. Design Specifications (What will success look like? How will you know when youve achieved it?):
