What are the rules?

AFAD’s On-the-Spot Poetry Writing and Reading Contests are open to


young poets who love to arrange words in any poetic style.
An entry must be a short poem [under 32 lines] and must be written on-
the-spot.
To make sure that each poem is written on-the-spot, entrants must re-
spond to a theme and prompt word that will be given on the date of the
actual writing contest.
All works must be written eligibly in English or Filipino.
All entries should be original and not a translation from another entry.
Prizes at stake: An entrant whose poem is shortlisted, may read his/her own work or can
choose someone to present it in a public reading.

Poetry Writing Criteria for Poetry Writing include:

1st prize - Php 7,000 Originality -35%


Style - 25%
2nd prize - Php 5,000 Relevance to the topic - 40%

3rd prize - Php 3,000 Criteria for Poetry Reading include:
