his is an integrated course for students interested in taking &'th grade (onors )ocial )tudies
and English. he course uses the chronological study of world history from &*'' to the present
and covers the themes of culture! science and technology! economics! and government. he
content integrates readings and writings that focus on exploring! interpreting! and analyzing
literature and other readings that extend and support the world history discussions and research.
he course is a demanding study of world history and literature! re+uiring students to understand!
analyze! and interpret the connections between ma,or historical events and the writings of the
time. $ritical thinking! philosophical discussion! concept attainment! vocabulary development!
language usage! and research will be stressed. he development of discussion and presentation
skills will focus on analysis! interpretation! and evaluation.

personal best in class daily. /espect for yourself! others! and the environment around you will
also be expected from everyone in the classroom. 0f students behavior is disrespectful or

are not mind"readers. 0t is expected that if you are not understanding the material! you will seek
extra help in seminar or other times outside of the class period.

1our efforts in class and on your daily assignments will be the key to your success in class. Each day
you come to class you will have the opportunity to learn something new and practice what your have
learned. Each class period you will be expected to complete the daily warm"up! take notes! and get
started on an assignment.
Daily Assignments-(omework
$ompleting the daily assignment is crucial to your overall success in class. 0f you do not complete the
daily assignment! you will not do well in class. All assignments must be completed in 6EB$0# and
corrected in 6EB. Each assignment will be graded. Each assignment is worth 5 points 5 points. (omework
+uizzes may also be a part of your daily assignments grade. #ate homework will be accepted for
reduced credit prior to the unit test. After the unit test! no credit will be awarded for late work from that
unit.
3riting Assignments
3riting assignments must be typed and completed in C#A formatting.

he best way to prepare to for a +uiz or test is to study your notes! warm"ups! and previous assignments.
Quizzes > Each unit-chapter covered! you will have at least one +uiz 8usually two; that will cover the
material we have most recently been studying. 0f you are not successful on the +uiz! you may get extra
help! study! and re"take it one time. All quiz re-takes must be complete prior to the unitchapter test!
1ou are responsible for scheduling an appropriate time for the re"take.
Chapter Tests > At the end of each unit-chapter you will have a test. hese tests will be cumulativeD that
is! each unit-chapter test will have material from the most recent unit of study! as well as review material
from prior units-chapters. 0f you are not successful on the test! you may re"take it one time. "est re-
takes must be completed prior to the ne#t unitchapter test. 1ou are responsible for scheduling an
appropriate time for the re"take.

Every minute in class is valuable to everyones education and success! and therefore its very important
students come to class prepared every day. )tudents are expected to bring their book! a pencil! a pen! and

our school schedule throughout the day for bathroom use! and a trip to the bathroom during class will
take a significant amount of time. Each minute in class is important to your success! and trips to the
bathroom interrupt your education and that of others. 6lease use the facilities during passing periods!
break! and lunch.

#iterature doesnt always come easy for everyone. 0f you are having difficulty in class! please please don&t don&t

homework assignments! notes! +uizzes! and-or tests. his will allow me to better assist you and see
where you are having problems. 1our teachers are more than willing to help you. Extra help can be

)cholars in the library! or through websites such as utor.com! which is free to you as a DoDEA student.
