Course Description In World History you will develop a greater understanding of the evolution
of global processes and contacts including interactions over time. The course highlights the
nature of changes in international frameworks and their causes and consequences, as well as
comparisons among other societies. The course will give a broad overview of the Enlightenment
Period through the Cold War period, and how the present-day world is filled with the ideas of the
past, which will shape the days of the future.

Course Overview This class will consist of class discussions, which will be teacher and student-
led with a focus on BIG idea questions, which help in deeper understanding of the material, as
well as develop higher order thinking strategies. A classroom text will be available for use only
in class, so it is imperative that you are present when learning and discussions are taking place.
There is no time like the present! Also, writing will be a huge part of this course. Learning how
to express your thoughts in a well-written, concise manner is a necessity. Additionally, a class
website is being developed. If it comes to fruition you will be able to download power points,
class assignments, and other pertinent information to aid in you being a success in this class! If
not, other ways will be used to help you in being a success in this course

Grading Policy
10% Homework
20% Participation (bell work, discussion, and Twitter responses when/if applicable etc.)
50% Quizzes (weekly, if possible)
20% Class work/Daily work (written or oral assignments)

Expectations
1) Each student will be expected to be actively engaged and learning during class. What this means is
that you will participate in class discussions, which is the basis of the daily lesson. At times you will
need to take notes, ask questions, and positively engage with your peers.
2) Be on time and seated before the bell rings, otherwise, you lose 10 points off of your weekly
participation grade. STAY seated until the bell rings. Do not pack or stand up before class is over!
3) Use the bathroom before class begins. Do not ask because the answer will be NO.
4) Complete and submit all work when it is due. You will lose 25 points per day for late assignments.
5) No eating or drinking. Doing so will deduct 20 points from your weekly participation grade daily for
failing to follow instructions.
6) All work is properly headed and labeled (Name, Title, Date, Period). If not, the assignment will be
considered late!
7) Respect everyone! Do not interrupt when someone has the floor. Wait your turn, otherwise one may
feel the need to turn up on you (myself included), but always in a constructive manner!
