Position for:
FG IV Scientific /Technical Project Officer
The vacancy is at the Institute for Energy and Transport in the Nuclear Reactor Integrity Assessment and Knowledge Management Unit (F.4). The MATTINO action addresses performance of nuclear materials and safety of nuclear components. The assessment of safety margins and long-term degradation is done by models ranging from physics-based models on specific length and time scales to industrial design codes. The modelling work needs to be integrated with experimental work since material properties need to be calibrated with respect to test data and models validated by laboratory experiments.
The MATTINO Action is looking for a scientist in mechanical modelling of materials behaviour and failure of components.
Qualifications: The candidate should have a university degree, in the field of mechanical engineering, physics, materials science or nuclear engineering. A Ph.D. or corresponding research experience is an advantage. Proven experience with modelling in the field of solid mechanics is required. Experience with material characterization and mechanical component testing would be an asset. Good communication and team working skills are essential. Good knowledge of oral and written English is mandatory.
