Tuesday 26th May Carlisle City vs Penrith.

Over 35s

Penrith won the 2nd division last year and so far this season are
unbeaten with good results away at Grasslot and Netherhall they
were a team to be respected.

The game kicked off on a sunny blustery evening with the threat of
rain ever present.
Penrith started the more positive and had a great chance to take
the lead when their forward’s pace took him behind City’s defence
where he put his shot high and wide.

With the wind being a major factor in the game a long kick from the
Penrith keeper resulted in a catalogue of errors from City’s defence
who eventually presented the ball on a plate to the Penrith Centre
forward who headed home, 0-1

This spurred City forward and Penrith were now hanging on and City
should have equalised when Milburn’s flicked header was latched on
to by Eagling and with only the keeper to beat somehow managed
to hit the falling keeper and the ball was cleared. It was Milburn’s
turn next as his header from a corner come back off the bar as City
pushed.

It was no surprise when City equalised when good interplay between

Todd and Pilkington allowed the latter to advance into the Box
leaving 3 Penrith players in his wake as he laid the keeper down and
coolly slotted home.1-1HT

The second half started in a downpour with City continuing to press.

On several occasions Penrith’s keeper came to their rescue and with
a mixture of good luck and average finishing Penrith managed to
hold on for a draw.

City were left frustrated as on the balance of play did more than
enough to secure all three points.MOM Mark Todd.
