Carlisle city v Netherhall 15 June 2009

With City still licking their wounds from a poor 2nd half performance at Penrith the
previous week, they entered the game with Netherhall with quite a few regulars
missing through injury and work commitments.

The game had been going for no longer than 2 minutes when a through ball was
missed by a Netherhall defender, and Mark Eagling was on to it in a flash and finished
clinically.1-0

This was just the start City needed and they began to pass the ball around with great
ease.

On 30mins with a quick dash foward Sandy broke into the opponents half before any
one could think he let fly from 35 yards giving the keeper no chance.2;0

City were now well in control and could have had a few more before half time, but it
was left to that poacher supreme Eagling to pounce on another chance just before half
time to make it 3;0HT

With Netherhall struggling due to a lack of substitutes,City were never going to lose
this match and it was that man Eagling again in the right place at the right time to tap
home the fourth and complete his hat-trick.

City continued to dominate and when goal a game Pilkington crashed home their fifth
it was just a matter of how many as Netherhall weakened.

With 5 mins to go City made it six when Pilkington’s cross was missed by 2
defenders and Armstrong slotted the ball home.6-0

A special word must go out to all our players who don’t normally start but who put in
great performances,John Blyth,Colin West,Lee Wannop & Frank longcake.
Also a special thank you to the lads from Netherhall who played the game in the right
spirit, cheers lads.

Well with us losing at Penrith the week before I honestly thought they would be a
hard nut to crack for anyone, and would be the team to beat.
As we played, they were on the adjoining pitch losing 2-1 to bottom of the league St
Bedes.
This week coming we have a very hard game away at Grasslot no quarter given!!!
