Presentation of a program on assemblage and drawing with a focus on engaging boys in the classroom

VA Presence at the
College:
Visual Arts is an integral part of the Creative and
Performing Arts KLA at Gilroy, indeed the College. VA
Teachers are very involved in the life of the College
through our Leadership Roles, Musicals, Retreats,
Fundraising events any opportunity to build
relationships with students both inside and outside
the classroom.

We take Stage:4 students to
Archibald Prize and
SxS
Year:10 do a unit on Environmental/Performance Art
Out in the playground that has a huge presence and the whole
school community responds to.

Every VA/Photo student exhibits at GAPE annually.
The rest of the College community is invited to participate
through the 2 x Competitons:
Portrait (Overall Prize, Highly Commended and Peoples Choice)
Photography (Overall Prize, Highly Commended and Peoples
Choice)

How are electives chosen?
Stage:5
Subject selection presentations to Year:8 students during school hours.
By LOLs or nominated staff

Student selection dictates courses that will run and staffing (mostly)

Stage:6
A more formal subject selection evening is offered where parents and students have
the opportunity to speak to subject teachers.
Students nominate courses then every student is interviewed by the Leadership Team
to ensure suitability of their choices.
GAPE
Team effort that is lead by Rom and Nicole

Planning starts in Term:4 (previous year) with the claiming of
the date on the College calendar, ie Last week of the Trial
Exams.

Boards booked in term:1
37 boards at $7 each + $50 Deposit from Jasper Road
Public
Maintenance man picks up and returns boards in the
College bus.
*All year: Student work is collected and stored
*6-8 Weeks Prior: Jobs allocated and Marketing
Friday of week prior: Boards delivered to Hall
Monday (last day of Trials): Year:12 Set up
Tuesday: Teachers released from classes of their choosing
to set up the rest of the work.
Tuesday Evening: Exhibition Night (2
nd
biggest Annual
College Event after Open Evening)
Wednesday: Pack Down
