Young poets between 18-23 are invited to apply for the residential school to develop writing and
critical skills through a series of exciting and challenging workshops run by Dr Jane Griffiths of
Wadham College, University of Oxford whose fourth collection, Terrestrial Variations, was published
in 2012 and Dr David Wheatley of Aberdeen University, the author of four collections of poetry with
Gallery Press, and whose Readers Guide to Essential Criticism of Contemporary British Poetry will be
published by Palgrave in 2014. All tuition and accommodation costs will be paid for by Tower
Poetry. At the end of the summer school, the students work will be collected and it is intended that
selected poems will be published in a poetry pamphlet (the 2012 collection is Earth-Quiet).
To be eligible, students should be usually resident in the UK; must be no younger than 18 and no
older than 23 on 26 August 2014. To apply, send 3 of your own poems together with a covering
letter listing any previous writing achievements and tell us why you want to take part. Please
include:
Date of birth; home address; telephone number (mobile or home); email address;
Name, address & phone number of school, college or university; name of tutor as referee (for those
applicants in full or part-time education)
