Iron ore beneficiation is the process where iron ore is processed with a view to reducing

contaminants and thereby increasing the iron content of the raw iron ore. This is described as
increasing the Fe value.
Our iron ore washing systems have proven, in many applications, to significantly increase the
Fe value of iron ore and thereby increase efficiencies in steel production.
Our iron ore washing system is an adaptation of our well established sand washing
techniques and delivers significant advantages to our many customers in the iron ore
processing sector.
Below you will find a summary of the main benefits of washing of iron ore as a means of
achieving quality improvement.
The processing of low grade iron ore fines can be inefficient due to the presence of
contaminants within the iron ore. These include alumina, silica, silt, clay etc. The presence of
these contaminants reduces the efficiency of the iron making process for a number of reasons:

1. Silica requires very high temperatures for melting, increasing energy use and therefore
increasing the cost of processing the iron ore.

2. Alumina and silica deposits in the kilns as a coating material, reducing efficiency over
time. The kilns need to be shut down frequently to allow this material to be removed.

Our iron ore washing systems target these contaminants and ensure their effective removal
from the iron ore fines. This has the effect of increasing the FE value of the iron ore, allowing
for a more efficient steel production process.
The introduction of our iron ore beneficiation systems by some of the leading steel producers
in India in recent times provides evidence of the efficiencies that our iron ore washing
systems can bring to the steel production industry.
A typical CDE iron ore beneficiation plant includes the equipment listed below:
Feed Hopper
Wet Washing Screen
EvoWash Fines Washing System
RotoMax Logwasher
AquaCycle Thickener with flocculent dosing system and water recirculation system
