On August 20, 2014, the Andrew County (Missouri) Sheriffs Office contacted the Cloquet Police Department
regarding a fugitive that they believed may currently be in the city of Cloquet. The fugitive, James Michael
Swett, was wanted in Missouri for 50 felony charges, which are as follows:
14 counts of Statutory Sodomy - 1
st
degree
14 counts of Child Molestation
14 counts of Forcible Sodomy
3 counts of Sex Abuse
5 counts of Sodomy

Acting on information discovered during the investigation, detectives and officers identified an address where
the suspect may possibly be residing. Shortly after 8 AM on August 21, 2014, Detective Berg located Swett
walking near the address, which is near Pinehurst Park.

Swett was taken into custody for his outstanding warrants without incident and was transported to the Carlton
County Jail where he is being held pending extradition back to Andrew County, Missouri.

A deputy from the Carlton County Sheriffs Office assisted the Cloquet Police Department during Swetts
