COLLECTING
Collecting is the process of gathering data from real world environment to an
information system. This process is the first procedure of information processes and is
an information input system, meaning data is captured or entered into a computer
system.
The collecting process was one of the key information processes in relation to this
assignment. I collected various images for the navigation page and all the activities of
this assessment task involved text (from keyboards). The text collected were in the form
of ASCII text format.
OTHER EXAMPLES OF COLLECTI NG:
- Tour Management Assignment (2012)
o During the band assignment during Year 9, making an itinerary required
collect various sources of websites from the internet concerning venues,
flights and dates available was a process of gathering information. Images
were also collected to add to the validity to such an assignment
- Stop Motion Rocket: (2014)
o In the stop motion rocket project, we were required to shoot various photos
to create a stop motion video. During the process of editing such photos,
various photos were collected and visual effects were added to emphasis the
ICT skills in such a project
- Booktopia ISC diagram and book sorting (2014)
o The process of collecting information about the information processes was
used to create a diagram for ISC assignment.
- Captivate Project: How to edit a room (2014)
o The Captivate Project was an assignment relying fully on the collecting
process as the tutorial depended on the examples and validity of the
tutorial. Video capturing tools provided the needed visual images of steps in
tutorial for a user to easily follow the tutorial.

SOCIAL AND ETHICAL I SSUES
There are some social and ethical issues we have to consider during the process of
collecting. For example, there is bias in the choice of what and where to collect data.
Majority of data involving collecting was obtained from the internet, mainly Google
images. Whilst obtaining images from the internet, we may not be aware of copyright

and acknowledgements of a certain image, which may also be a concern. The data
collected may be inaccurate and in some cases, out-dated. An example of inaccurate
data collection was in the Binge Drinking website, due to unreliable resources and
inaccurate representations of the information obtained.
