Welcome to second grade! I hope that you and your family are as excited about
beginning a new school year as I am. I am a highly qualified teacher with a Bachelors of
cience degree in !lementary !ducation from "a#land $ni%ersity with a ma&or in
'athematics and a minor in (anguage )rts. I am loo#ing forward to wor#ing with your
child this year and helping him/her to achie%e his/her potential. *hrough the remainder
of this letter, I will share some of my beliefs and classroom policies.
Parent/*eacher +elationships , I belie%e that a good parent-teacher relationship is
necessary for maximum school success. *hroughout the year I will communicate with
you through notes, newsletters, conferences, and email. I encourage you to contact me if
you ha%e any questions or concerns. .ou can call me before school begins from /am-
/012am or after school from 1012pm - 3pm. )lso, I will chec# and respond to my email
at least twice a day.
Parent Participation , *hroughout the school year there will be a %ariety of special
classroom acti%ities and celebrations. I encourage you to attend these functions when
possible. .our support of school acti%ities ma#es your child feel important and sends
the message that you %alue school. 'y expectations for conduct and academic standards
are high. 4ith participation both in and out of the classroom, we can loo# forward to a
producti%e, creati%e, and en&oyable year together. In the past, I ha%e had many parents
%olunteer their time in the classroom, and I encourage this because it pro%ides
opportunities for more children to recei%e personal attention. If you are interested in
%olunteering, please fill out the I-5hat %olunteer form. .ou can chose your schedule,
may it be wee#ly, bi-wee#ly, or an occasional basis. )ny help you can gi%e will be
warmly appreciated.
chool )ttendance , .our child6s regular and prompt attendance at school is crucial to
his/her success. I can6t emphasi7e this point enough8 chool begins at /099 and your
child should be in his/her sit ready to begin the day.
