Language Arts 7 Course Outline

I. MAJOR OBJECTIVES
The major objective of this course is to actively engage students in responding to and evaluating a
variety of forms of literature/texts that relate to their lives. Students will extend their thoughts on the
chosen texts through previewing activities, collaborative work, discussion, independent work and
extension activities that draw on and develop reading, writing, speaking, viewing, listening, and
representing skills. As well, students will build on their knowledge of conventions of language and
literature, reading strategies, and media literacy.
II. COURSE CONTENT
Semesters 1 and 2 (September 3 June 19)
This course will cover 10 units. As well, this course will include spelling, grammar, and punctuation
lessons.
