POSITION DETAILS:
The Prep Teacher:
Music, Drama, and Dance Prep for primary to intermediate students
A degree in teaching Music is required
Drama and dance training and/or experience
Primary and intermediate experience
Collaborates with other professionals with regard to both Music and other school wide initiatives
Able to communicate effectively with staff and parents
Experience with facilitating school wide events and performances

SCHOOL PROFILE:
Lord Nelson Elementary has approximately 430 students from K 7 and a District Autism program. We
provide many opportunities for student leadership, participation in Athletics and Fine Arts. Staff members work
collaboratively on many school wide initiatives such as Positive Behaviour Interventions and Support (PBIS), Social
and Emotional Learning, Technology and Inquiry Based Learning. Teachers have been integrating technology into
instruction and learning through the use of iPads. Communication and collaboration are key components of our
school culture. The parents in our community are very supportive and highly involved. Our School Growth Plan
focuses on Aboriginal Education, specifically legends, as well as a focus on Inquiry Based Learning in Science. We
will also be beginning the consultation process for the new school building.
