President Obama is in a very difficult predicament. The President agreed with Russia to seize
and demolish Syrias chemical weapons as a first step to peace in Syria. Therefore the United
States was not going to get involved in the middle of another civil war. President Vladimir V.
Putin of Russia criticized President Obamas decision although he has different values. The
Russian government still plays a key role in the Syrian conflict.
The main argument of this article is Obama is trying to prevent the Syrian government from
killing more civilians. Obama is using this as an example to show other countries that the United
States will only get involved with external conflicts if it consist of the United States citizens. The
primary example is conflict with Iran.
