"say" and "tell"?

same, but there is a lot of difference in
the way we use them. The difference
is very important.
 Say is always followed by to, before
the person to whom something is said.
eg: He said to me, she said to him,
etc.
 Tell is never immediately followed by to.
 You say some thing to some one/ You
say some thing. We use say, when we
repeat some one's words. She said,
'Go away'.
 Tell always is followed by a person as
its object. She told him to/ She told
him that ... etc.
 Say can be used without
mentioning the person to
whom some thing is said.
a) He says that he is hungry.
b) Kumar said to me that he
would go with me.
 Tell is always followed by the person
to whom something is said.

 Say is often used to repeat the words
