LOST VIDEO: A story using CAMERA SHOTS, ANGLES,

MOVEMENT, AND SEQUENCING

You will be creating a movie based on the storyline below. You can be creative on how you present your
ideas. Remember that they must be G rated and you cannot film the security gate area. The purpose of
this movie is for you to integrate sequencing and most of the camera shots, angles, and movements into
your story so that your product will tell a good story and have an impact on the audience.

Objectives:
A. Learn how to tell a story and communicate your ideas through film
B. Use camera shots, angles, and movement in your movie
C. Use sequencing of shots
D. Become familiar with using video cameras along with related video and audio equipment
E. Understand how to edit and export video using Premiere Pro

Storyline (The five main elements of a story have been included: setting, plot, characters, conflict and theme)
1. Student arrives to school. (set this up so that you do not include the gate)
2. and then the student goes to their first class and is very upset when they realize that they lost something
on the way (you can include a variety of stops along that the student makes along the way. Do NOT film
in the bathrooms you can film going in and coming out but not inside!)
3. Feeling very anxious, the student then goes back and retraces their steps looking in different places and
asking people if they have seen the item that they lost.
4. The student finds it (possibly somebody found it and put it someplace)
5. The student is now happy and gets back to the classroom just in time as the bell rings

Directions:
1. Complete the Video Treatment. This will help you to organize your story and will make the other
steps easier. Use Word to create your outline of the story this should be detailed and tell the
complete story not just an overview.
2. Using the Celtx storyboard, create a shot by shot description of your movie. You must include
the script, shot, and angle in each storyboard frame.
3. You must use all shots and all angles as well as panning, tilting, and zooming.
4. Include one scene where you are using movie magic to have a person going through a door to
room but actually walks into a different room or similar situation.
5. Include at least one shot sequence where you get a long, medium, and two close-ups of
somebody playing an instrument, throwing and catching something, opening a locker, etc
6. You must have a minimum of 25 scenes.
7. Fill out your shot list and film your scenes according to the list.
8. Once you have filmed your story each person in the team will edit their version of the movie.
9. The video should include a simple title at the beginning and rolling credits at the end (white text
on black background)
10. There should be a musical background to help convey the feelings experienced in the movie. A
sound effect of a school bell has been included in the resources.
11. Export the video as an MP4 file. Include your name in the video file name +Lost (i.e. joe
lost.mp4) and then turn it in to the Video folder Turn-In folder for this project and in your period.

Filming groups and job assignment: You will work in a team of 3 or 4 students as assigned. Each person

Sound Technician: Responsible for micing the talent, picking up quality audio, monitoring the sound,
adjusting the levels
