Best Song Ever
Waking up Thursday morning I couldnt help but smile like crazy. Today was the day
Ive been waiting for ever since my friend and I spontaneously bought One Direction concert
tickets during the summer. This was the day where we would go crazy and just have the best
time of our life before we would separate for college. Tonight is going to be unforgettable.
After finishing my last class I walked out of the library excited as ever knowing that in a
couple of hours I would be in the Rose Bowl rocking my socks out! As I was exiting the library I
heard my name being called and I looked to my left I saw my friend waiting for me with a couple
of our other friends. When walking up to her we couldnt help but smile like crazy at each other.
Kimberly! Are you ready for tonight?!! I squealed while doing a little dance.
She answered me with the same enthusiasm saying, Oh my god YES!
We said good bye to our friends and walked to the parking lot. Throughout our entire
walk to my car we couldnt stop talking about how great tonight was going to be. We didnt
know what was going to happen at all because we decided that we wouldnt watch any videos
that concerned the concert. We hadnt checked the set list either, so we totally in the dark; all we
knew was that were going to have fun and enjoy our last concert together before she starts
school.

Finally we made it to my house where we quickly ate and freshened up. We also decided
to check the seating chart of the concert to find out where there were empty seats so we could
sneak down. Once we vaguely knew which seats were open we decided it was time to head to
Pasadena. The entire car ride we sang and listened to 5 Seconds of Summer (the super-hot
opening act) and One Direction. Every song that played we kept saying to each other Do you
think theyre going to play this? or I love this song! They better play it tonight. Our
excitement was through the roof. When we finally got to the Rose Bowl we couldnt help
ourselves! We kept screaming at each other and saying OH MY GOD WERE FINALLY
HERE!!! WERE GOING TO SEE OUR HUSBANDS!
As we started walking towards the arena we heard singing in the air, kiss me, kiss
me And in that moment I freaked out. I grabbed my friends shoulders and looked dead
straight at her and said, This is Calums voice. This is live. At first she didnt believe me
because she wondered why would they be singing at only 3:30, but I knew that this was 5
Seconds of Summer playing right now. Then, once the song ended we heard laughter and talking.
It was them! We stopped dead on our tracks and looked at each other but people kept on walking
on and probably wondered why two girls just decided to stop. At that moment I let everything
go. I just could not hold in my excitement any longer. I screamed while throwing my hands in
the air, OH MY FREAKING GOD!!! THIS IS LIVE!!!!!! ITS THEM!!! The onlookers just
looked at me like I was some crazy girl but I honestly did not care at all. I was in complete bliss.
My friend and I just laughed afterwards at my outburst and we happily continued to walk
towards the arena.
After waiting for the gates to open to let the thousands of people enter, we made our way
to the empty seats that we saw on the map. Our actual seats were a bit further up. It was around 5

oclock and the sun was still shining directly in our faces. We of course got the sunny side of the
arena.
30 minutes went by and people were still shuffling in since the opening act wouldnt start
until past 7 pm. My friend and I were content, but BAM! A family comes and says that we were
in their seats so of course we had to move; but, we just moved a couple seats to the left so it was
all fine. We started to get some anxiety because we totally thought that those seats were empty,
we did our research and everything. Then we started wondering even more if anyone had the
seats that we were currently sitting in. Our question was soon answered when a group of girls
and a mom came walking towards us. They were in the seats right in front us but we heard their
conversation saying that their other friends or family member were going to sit in the seats
behind them. My friend and I had even more anxiety. What was the point of researching the
empty seats? We decided to walk out and head to the refreshment stands to create a new plan of
action.
Seriously who buys tickets like two hours before a concert? I asked her.
I know right. Those seats were empty when we checked on the website.
We just kept going back and forth questioning the thoughts of those people who just
bought a concert ticket. Then a miracle happened. My friend texted her friend, who was also
going to the concert, about our predicament and her friend said that she knew nobody was going
to be sitting next to them in the concert because the person who sold her the tickets, who was a
friend of hers, did not sell the two other tickets. At that moment I was no longer sad like I was a
couple minutes ago. I was also much calmer now and my anxiety lessened. However, we still
had to wait for her friend to arrive to the venue in order for all us to go.

It was around 7:10 at this point and my anxiety was coming back in full force. The
concert was going to start soon and her friend still hadnt arrived. My friend and I kept walking
around trying to calm down and wait patiently for her friend come. Finally after waiting for what
felt like forever, we see her friend walking towards us. Now, all we had to do was tactfully
present our ticket stubs to the guard who would allow us to go in. My anxiety was making things
worse me; I felt awkward walking towards the guard but thankfully my friend was the one to
show our tickets to him. He let us through.
We made our way to our seats with just enough time for the concert to start. The lights
went down and the crowd screamed. Music started to play and 5 Seconds of Summer emerged
from back stage. At last I was able to see their faces! My anxiety was totally gone and it was
replaced by excitement and ecstasy. Once they started playing, I couldnt stop screaming and
jumping up and down. It was pure bliss.
Sadly, they were only the opening act, so when they were done with their set list there
was an intermission. During that intermission, we were all just talking about how great the
performance was and wondered when One Direction would start.
15 minutes later the lights went down again and this time the crowd screamed even
louder. The introduction of Midnight Memories started to play and the boys emerged, as well
as fireworks. The entire concert was just amazing. The crowd was moving and waving their
hands in the air. The atmosphere of that night was truly unforgettable with the fireworks and the
energy of the boys singing their songs. My friends and I couldnt stop screaming and smiling
during the entire concert.

Nevertheless, the night had to come to end and their final song was Best Song Ever.
When they performed, it seemed they had even more energy than the start of the show. The boys
said their goodbyes and with them countless fireworks shot up, illuminating the night sky with
their sparkles. At the end of the night my friend and I enjoyed ourselves to the fullest and we
walked back to the car happily.
