We are so excited to share about the fantastic week we
had welcoming thousands of students to campus. The past few weeks have been non-stop activities as we have taken every opportunity to connect with students and give them a chance to hear the gospel. Thank you so much for all your support and prayers! You are making so much of this possible! JEFF AND CATHERINE WINKELMAN v.3.8 SEPTEMBER 2014 WELCOME HOME. 1 Through the many events we have put on, we have met so many new friends and have never seen so many freshmen get plugged in so quickly! On move- in day, we have the honor of working alongside the university, helping students move in! Its an awesome way for us to serve the school and meet new students. The next few days we put on as many events as we could: Ultimate Frisbee in the dark, a beach Bonfire, a House Party, an outdoor service, and Labor Day games by the dorms. We met so many students! One student told us that this was SERVING THE UNIVERSITY CHI ALPHA KICK-OFF! 2 the best way to start college! All through this time we let them know who we were and invited them to come check our services out. Our first Wednesday night prayer and worship night was packed! Many came for a free meal and got to experience an awesome Word from Catherine and a wonderful time of worship. Last Sunday, we launched our small groups and so many had an awesome first week!
We cannot wait for the coming weeks as we continue to meet students and let people know Jesus truly loves them and they have a place to belong. z I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ. Philippians 3.8-9 PLEASE PRAY WITH US 1 Pray that the new students we connected with continue to come, get plugged in and experience God.
Pray for our upcoming Fall Retreat, Oct 3-5. Pray many come and experience life-change through Jesus.
Pray for more students to continue to find us. So many students have already engaged in the party life 2 and many dont know Jesus. We want to build a bridge to them this year.
Pray for the other campus ministries on campus, that they too may continue to make an impact in students lives.
That God meets us right where we are, daily.
That God provides our full budget. (Above): We love to chalk the campus and advertise who we are and where we are. (Top Right): Several Leaders before our Sunday Service. (Right): Many new students hanging out at a bonfire on the beach, after playing Ultimate Frisbee in the dark!
This fall we as a staff really want to come alive in Christ and invite students in on the life we have been given through Jesus. Our slogan this year is: Discover God, Join the Journey. We want to seek God with our whole heart, worship Him, and invite others to join in on this journey of becoming like our Creator!
