Passive Measures
Passive measures are
employed simply to protect
secret or sensitive information,
such as classification systems
which restrict the number of
individuals and organisations
entitled to access such
information. The US
classification system, for
instance, categorises documents
according to the degree of
damage they could inflict on
national security as a result of
their unauthorised release.
In most cases, this protective
system is accompanied by
measures also aimed at
guaranteeing physical site
security and personnel security
procedures for screening
potential employees, for
example.
