According to Patrick F. Fagan, Ph.D.

, Religious Practice
and Educational Attainment (2010), regular religious attendance
can increase the internalization of moral norms and values,
strengthen an internal locus of control and habits of
discipline, and increase adolescents expectations of
themselves.
According to Daniel Duffis, The Study of the Bible as an
Effective Tool for Academic Success, when the Bible is read and
meditated upon, it stimulates the regeneration brain cells. Thus, the
Bible is effective in sharpening the mind to perform at a higher level
academically. When the Bible is the measuring tool of a religion, it
becomes a tremendous influence for academic success, in such a way that
it helps to reinforce the importance of staying in school, working hard
to attain good grades, and achieving a diploma.
In addition to achievement motivation, Mooney 2010, Jeynes,
2005, Jeynes, 2007 said that religion also has direct bearing on
other educational results. Several studies have shown that the
religious students are braver and perform better academically.
Researches made by Mayer& Sharp, 1962 show that being a
part of a religious group promotes conformity such as going to
classes or completing assignments.
As said by Wilson, 1978; Lundberg & Startz, 1998; McCleary
& Barro, 2006, religious groups or religious activities provide
a social support outside the family to combat loneliness.
Students feel more comfortable because they have access to the
needed support. Religious students are also found to devote time
and energy to a variety of pro-social causes.
