outlineshowthepowerisevenlyusedandprovideslimitationsoncertainsectionswithinthethreebranchesof
government.TheConstitutionisdividedinto7differentarticles.Thefirst3talkabouttalkaboutthestructureand
aboutthepowersandlimitationsthethreebranchesofgovernmenthave.The4

isChangingtheConstitution(TheBillofRightsandThe27Ammendments).Thesixthsummarizes
howtheconstitutionwillwork.AndtheseventhistheRatificationoftheConstitution.
ThewritersoftheConstitutionwantedtheretobelimitsontheamountofpowerthegovernmenthadso
theydecidedtomakeasystemcalledChecks&Balances.ThisiswhentheLegislative,Judicial,andExecutive
branchesareassignedcertainjobsthatrequirecheckinguponbyotherbranches.Anexampleofthisisthatthe
LegislativebranchwritesthelawsandtheysendittoThePresident(theExecutiveBranch)andifhethinksitsa
goodlawthenhellsignit.Otherwisehecanvetoit.ButthentheLegislativebranch(onlywith2/3svote)canvote
tostillputthelawintoplay.
Whenthewriterswrotetheconstitution,theywerethinkingpolitically.Theywerethinkingaboutwhatwas
goingtobestforeveryoneandhowtheyweregoingtogetacontrytorunproperly,notabouthumanrightsandthe
naturallawsoflife.Soafterawhilepeopleprotested.ThatswhenTheBillofRightscameintoplay.Thereare10
Bills(ammedments)tothissectionofTheConstitution.Thefirstistohavefreedomofreligion,freedomofspeech,
freedomofpress,freedomofassembly,andfreedomtopetition.Thesecondamendmentistherighttokeepand
beararmsinordertomaintainawellregulatedmilitia.The3

amendmentisthatcitizensdonothavetoquarter
