1.

Describe three specific points, within the

photo, that help move the viewer's eye around
the image.
The branches of the tree move the viewers eyes in many different
directions. Each branch is leading in many different ways. The tree
trunk is another focal point because it is a large part of the picture and
towards the left portion of the image, following the rule of thirds.
Another part is the leaves, because it covers the remaining parts of the
picture and fills up all the space between the trunk and the branches.

2. What effect do the vertical lines in the
photo have on the overall image?
Consider mood and feeling as well as the sense of
direction within the image.
The vertical lines gives the image an effect of going up. The tree trunk
is the main focus in this photo. The bark of the tree is all facing in the
same direction, vertically.

3. What effect do the horizontal lines in the
photo have on the overall image?
Consider mood and feeling as well as the sense of
direction within the image.
The horizontal lines in this photo effect the image because it is the only
subject in the entire photo. The bench is the only focus in this image so
it is very simple.

4. What effect do the diagonal lines in the
photo have on the overall image?
Consider mood and feeling as well as the sense of
direction within the image.
The diagonal lines in this photo effect the overall image because the
first part of the image is blurred and the second part is clear. The
diagonal lines are heading in the direction of the clear section. The wall
is leading straight across but in this photo it makes it seems as though
its leading more upwards.

5. What effect do the zigzag lines in the
photo have on the overall image?
Consider mood and feeling as well as the sense of
direction within the image.
The zigzag lines in this photo give a sense of order and continuous
pattern. The chain link fence is zigzagged which forces the viewer to
look in every direction. These zigzag lines create a more exciting
picture.

6. What effect do the curved lines in the
photo have on the overall image?
Consider mood and feeling as well as the sense of
direction within the image.
The curved lines in this photo are of a lock. There are many curved
parts in this image and that effects it because we know it turns so it
gives a sense of extra curviness.

7. Explain whether the planes in your photo
achieve a sense of "flat space" or "deep
space". Explain how the particular sense of
space is achieved...........for example, if a
sense of deep space is created, how is it
created? What makes the space deep?
In this photo it creates deep space because the ends of the
lockers move further into the picture. It makes it deep because
we know that there is more to the picture and the middle of
the photo is where the lockers begin.

8. List three words/adjectives that describe
the visual qualities of one solid in the photo
(first identify which solid you are
describing). Next, explain how the
photographer was able to communicate
those particular characteristics about the
solid. For example: maybe the
photographer used a sense of scale to
suggest the specific size of the solid or
maybe the way the solid is lit (lighting)
shows the three-dimensional form of the
solid very well.
The main focus in this image is the yellow dandelions
surrounded by the dark purple leaves. Bright, clear, close. In
this image, its very bright because the yellow dandelions stick
out because the background is so dark and subtle. Clear
because the first weed is very visible and the second is quite
blurred and so are the leaves in the background. Close because
I made it look like the dandelions and leaves were much larger
than reality.
