Signaling System Network Control (SSNC)

The Signaling System Network Control (SSNC) based on high-performance main processors (MP)
is used from the functional units SS7 control and OAM&P agent. Up to 50 MP's (growable in
steps of 1 MP) and plug and play capability assure top scalability and efficient upgrading. Up to
46 of them can handle the signaling link termination function (MP:SLT functionality).

The other MPs are responsible for:

signaling manager (MP:SM): SS7 signaling network management

operation, administration and maintenance (MP:OAM): OAM interface to the SS7 Control and
to the Call & Feature Control

statistic manager (MP:STAT): gathering the signaling relevant statistic

main processor IP (MP:IP): interconnection and SS7 message transmission to the IP network

number portability (MP:NP): on these optional MPs a number portability database resides to
supports number portability queries from inside the SURPASS hiE 9200 or from other network
elements.

global title translation (MP:GTT): n smaller configurations the GTT function is performed by
the MP:SLT. If it comes to performance separate MP:GTT are taking over the GTT task.

All MP:SLT together provide a static capacity of 1 500 SS7 links and a dynamic message
throughput of up to 500 000 Message Signaling Units per second (MSU/s).

Furthermore, the SS7 Control can work as a signaling relay point with up to 100 000 SS7 SCCP
Global Title Translations per second (GTT/s). In order to support the 64/56 kbit/s time slots for
PCM 30 or PCM 24 as well as 2/1.5 Mbit/s High-Speed Signaling links up to 50 Line Interface
Cards (LIC) with 8 E1/T1 lines each can be configured. The connection to the IP network is done
via 100 bT Ethernet interface.
