When we think about the interplay between psychology, neuroscience, and education which
encompasses aspects of brain-compatible learning, what often comes to mind is:
The process of how people think and feel The anatomy of the brain and how we process and learn new information. The information we learn through school, research, environment, and other formal or informal academic opportunities.
Reflect and critically respond to the following:
How do you see the relationship between psychology, neuroscience, and education and how can you apply this theory to your current and future professional role? Professional roles may include: teacher, social worker, psychologist, child advocate, brain-fitness coach, behavioral consultant, etc. The relationship between psychology, neuroscience and education play important role in my future professional role as a Counselor. As a counselor we are a part of the educational team. We have to help the students with academic achievement, social, personal development, and career development. Counselors make sure our children are well productive adults of the future. We counsel our students, make sure our children receive differentiated instruction to fit their diverse needs, and make sure the educational team is knowledgeable of the needs of the students. Explain how you see the relationship between psychology, neuroscience, and education and how the combination of these terms allows you (as a professional) to better understand your students/clients. Give specific examples. Counselors must be willing to work with children and parents. Also, have some compassion for others and open-minded. We have to ensure students and parents that we are there for them and their educational needs. Neuroscience explains how different the brain develops, enables us to process information and put into memory for the learning process. Educational counselors work with the educational team to ensure students are achieving academically. For example, if a child is placed in a classroom and not performing academically the counselor needs to assist the teacher and parents. A counselor needs to call a conference to find a way to for the child to become successful academically. The counselor has to set goals for the child and if they do not work then another plan of action needs to take place. As a counselor I have to be strong and willing to communicate my concerns professionally for the concerns of the child.
