3 Educational websites for Teachers:

1. http://www.scholastic.com/browse/search/teacher?query=scienc
e&as_values_01793=&channelOnly=true

Scholastic is typically used for reading, but the resources available
are infinite for all subjects. There's obviously science related books
that you could recommend for students interested or that would be
good to have in your class library for research or reports/projects.
There are also lesson planning tools, activities, and printables. An
excellent resource.

2. http://www.discoveryeducation.com/teachers/

This site is another excellent resource. There are tons of free tools
available to teachers for all grades. There are puzzlemakers, lesson
plans, etc. Basically everything is science/technology related so it's
more of a science only resource.

3. http://www.pinterest.com/

Pinterest is a one stop shop. It has absolutely anything you could
possibly want. There are lesson plans, experiments, blogs,
countless activities for every grade, bulletin board ideas, classroom
decor ideas, classroom management plans and ideas. It's not
limited to anything, you can find information for any subject or
any grade.

3 Educational Websites to use with Students:

1. http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/

This is an interactive site for teachers and students that can be used
in the classroom. There are quizzes, scavenger hunts, contests, and
tons of different activities for students to do. It would be good to
have the subscription for the classroom library as well.

for students to complete in the classroom. They also have lesson
plans, etc for teachers.

interactive game where they use different skills to complete
games...like "finding the culprit", etc.

http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/experiments.html
This website has a variety of lessons/experiments to do in the
classroom with students. It has lessons for all grade levels. A
really positive thing about this website is it has lessons that
include discrepant events, which is one of the reasons why I
chose the site. They will keep the students engaged and excited.

www.pinterest.com
This website is a great resource for numerous reasons. As a
teacher, one can type in a lab they want to do and find lessons
for it, different ways to approach that lab, and other resources to
use in addition to the lab. This website can also spark new ideas
and provides other websites teachers can use along with sites
teachers can use with students.

http://teachers.net/lessonplans/subjects/science/
This website includes various lesson plans for elementary
students. It has written lesson plans that include the allotted
time, materials, and sources they used to teach the lesson. I
chose this site because it can offer lessons for teacher, which
they can use or alter to fit the needs for their class.

http://pbskids.org/zoom/games/kitchenchemistry/http://pbskids.or
g/zoom/games/kitchenchemistry/
I would use this website with my students because it is
interactive and they could do it on their own or we could use it as
a class. It items on the site are inquiry based learning and allows
the students to discover on their own. I chose it because it allows
students to do experiments online and better their independent
learning skills.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/scienceclips/index_flash.shtml
I would have student use this site because it teaches students
about different units in science and had various age groups.
Within the age groups there are different topics in science to
choose from. It allows inquiry learning and for students to predict
and then discover the answer. I chose the site because of how
interactive it is and all of the different topics within the one site.

http://www.lawrencehallofscience.org/kidsite/portfolio/crystals/
This website has man experiments, labs, games, and activities
student can do themselves. The games are interactive and
educational and the labs have a list of materials and step-by-step
directions so they know exactly what to do. They can also record
their results n the website and submit them. I chose this website
because in the different topics and games to chose from there
are extra activities, labs, and videos that go along with it and
further the curiosity and learning.

http://www.education.com/science-fair/elementary-school/ This
website is great for finding cool experiments. Some experiments
would be hard to do because of the materials needed. However,
there are great experiments that the kids can do themselves.

http://www.hometrainingtools.com/a/science-projects/c/early-
elementary-science-projects Really great articles that include
instructions for experiments. There are even some good health
labs that could be used with older elementary students.

http://www.1000sciencefairprojects.com/Science-
Experiments/Science-Experiments-Lesson-Plans-Elementary-
Students-Kindergarten.php 1000s of science lesson plans that
already have an objective, materials list, methods, and a
conclusion discussion.

This website appeals to what children are interested in like
providing names of TV shows that elementary school
students would enjoy watching that inform them about
science related topics. Students will also be able to view
slideshows about different topics as well as learn how to
build volcanoes which can lead to discussions about
chemical reactions, etc.

teachers, it has lesson plans, general ideas, and just a general
concept of what science is and what it means to teach science.

This is an excellent website- it has lesson ideas, projects, trivia and
other activities that a teacher could incorporate into their lessons.

Websites for teachers
1. http://reekoscience.com/
This is a great website for teachers who are looking for science
experiments to perform in class, or with their class. It also has
many articles that could be used in the classroom, for example
Whos your mummy? How (and why) ancient Egyptians preserved
their dead. (http://reekoscience.com/science-news/medical-
science-news/how-ancient-egyptians-made-mummies-preserved-dead )
or the class could watch what happens when astronauts on the moon
drop a hammer and a feather at the same time
(http://reekoscience.com/science-news/space/apollo-15-astronauts-
on-moon-drop-hammer-feather-at-same-time-galileo-gravity ).
2. http://www.science-teachers.com/
This is another great website for teacher resources in upper
elementary and middle school science classrooms. It includes
lesson plans, worksheets, and activities that can be used in the
classroom.
3. http://www.scholastic.com/teachers/article/40-cool-science-
experiments-web
This is another website for teachers looking for different
science experiments. The neat thing about this website is all of
the science experiments are youtube videos, so you can either:
watch the experiment and do it yourself or you could watch it
with the class and ask questions throughout the video.

Websites to use with students
1. http://www.scholastic.com/kids/weather/sim/game.htm
This website is an interactive simulation where the students can
change the Relative Humidity, Poleward Temperature, and the
Equatorward Temperature to cause different weather to occur.
This website would be great to use when teaching students what
effects weather and how weather is created, it helps cover and
explain SOL 4.6 and 4.8.
2. http://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulations/catego ry/new
This is another great interactive simulation website for students
to use. The difference in this website is that there are more
options in the kinds of simulations that one could use in their
classroom with their students. This website even has simulations
that could be used with mathematics as well, for example Build a
Fraction (http://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulation/build-a-fraction
).
3. http://edheads.org/
This is another interactive simulation website for students, but
this one seems to be made more for middle school or high school
students because of the activities. One that I found that I think
could be used for elementary students was Simple Machines
(http://edheads.org/activities/simple-machines/frame_loader.htm
). This simulation is fun and educational because the students
choose a room; then they have to locate different simple
machines; they have to also identify what type of simple machine
the object is and then it is explained how the machine works.
