PASSPORT TO DEMOCRACY: Action Plan Assessment Task
This semester in Humanities we have been exploring Australian democracy and thinking about issues that affect
us. This assessment task requires you to work in groups to research an issue you are concerned about in detail
and develop an action plan to address the problem. Your group will present (pitch) the plan to the class and the
class will vote for the best action plan.
Tasks
1. Form a group of 3 or 4
2. Decide on an issue that you are concerned about and would like to address
3. Research the issue in detail
4. Develop an action plan, setting out what you can do to address the issue
5. Develop a 5 minute pitch to convince your classmates that your action plan is the best
6. Present (Pitch) your action plan to the class!

As a group, you will need to submit a final copy of your Action Plan. You should include, as a minimum,
the information on page 25 of the student workbook. Type your Action Plan using Pages/Microsoft Word.

All members of the group must speak and make eye-contact with the audience
You can have a maximum of 5 Keynote slides

o Ways you can make your voices heard within the school/wider community to
complete this step/resolve the issue.
o The materials or resources that you will need.
o Who the steps are to be completed by. E. g. Group members, school staff. Etc.
