Community Involvement
VOLUNTEER AT UTAH SUMMER GAMES AS A MEMBER OF THE EDGE PROGRAM
I was able to volunteer a lot of my time for the Utah Summer Games. While I was attending
Southern Utah University full time, I volunteered my time to this great tradition in the summer of
2014. I loved every minute of giving back to this great community that I have lived in for five years.
I played the part of field marshal for the Youth Soccer portion of the USG. This consisted of
calling in scores to the games, making sure the referees were content with water and help as
needed, helping parents, players, and coaches get to their next assigned games, staying in contact
with the Utah Summer Games main office, monitoring the games, reporting an incident, and
practicing my people skills to keep in touch with those around me. This was a wonderful
experience. I was able to enhance my social skills and become more aware of the world around
me. I learned to be prompt and present during my service time. I really went out of my way to
ensure that all coaches, players, parents, and referees were getting enjoyment out of their time
spent at the Utah Summer Games.

VOLUNTEER AT LOCAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS (TEACHING AND TUTORING)
I have provided my time and service to my local elementary schools by tutoring and teaching
young children. This has required me to step out of my comfort zone and work towards my career
as a teacher. I have worked well the students by teaching my personal lesson plans and helping
them learn new material. I have ran reading groups with many grades. I have also developed
relationships with teachers and principles in the schools.
