Ribs Tool
Objective:
To create a part and attach ribs to the appropriate places.
Procedure:
1.Start Pro Engineer.
2.Open a solid part file.
3.o! clic" on the s"etching button.
#.$n the s"etching %ode !e !ill create the base of the part !e !ant to %a"e. The
s"etch is sho!n belo! !ith di%ensions:
&.o! !e !ill e'trude the above s"etch to a depth of (2 b) e*ual depth on both sides
of the s"etch. The part is sho!n on the ne't page:
+.o! !e !ill again s"etch the re%aining part of the s"etch on the ,-ront, plane b)
s"etching %ode. .e !ill give so%e e'tra references for the s"etch that are sho!n b)
the dotted lines. The s"etch !ith di%ensions is sho!n belo!:
(.The above s"etch !ill be e'truded to 3+ units on both sides of the s"etch. The
e'truded part is sho!n belo!:
/.o! !e !ill start the ribs tool . The dashboard for the ribs tool is sho!n:
0.The ribs tool pro%pts the users to s"etch the ribs at their re*uired plane and shape.
-ro% the references tab !e !ill clic" define. The ProE !ill as" us the plane of
s"etching and references just as in the s"etching %ode. The s"etch !ith the references
is sho!n belo!:
11..e !ill save and e'it the s"etching %ode and the rib tool !ill sho! us the rib that
is being %ade. The )ello! arro! in the do!n!ard direction sho!s that the rib is an
internal one. The rib has the !idth of 11 units and it is on both sides of the s"etch.
11.The finished rib is sho!n belo!:
12..e !ill attach another rib !ith the sa%e steps. The location and the di%ensions
are sho!n in the figure.
13.The above rib !ill be given the depth of 11 units and the direction !ill be in!ard
fro% the s"etch. The finished part !ith ribs is sho!n
