Procedure

Hook
The teacher will read 5 statements and the students will tell whether those are fact
or opinion.

Presentation
The teacher will ask students how they will know if a statement is a fact or
opinion.
The teacher will explain the characteristics of fact and opinion.
The teacher will present examples of fact and opinion statements.
Practice
A text will be presented to the class. The teacher will ask volunteers to
underline statements that are fact and encircle statements that are
opinion.
Produce
The students will write a summary of the facts from the articles that will be
given to them. Then, students will share/discuss own opinion.
Assignment

The students will provide an objective summary of an assigned text. They will
trace and evaluate the argument and specific claims in a text, assessing
whether the reasoning is sound and the evidence is relevant and sufficient to
support the claims.
